42 YEARS AGO, A 4TH WAR HAS CHANGED THE MIDDLE EAST FOR EVER. THE FOLLOWING IS THE ALGERIAN ARMED FORCES CONTRIBUTION ALONG WITH THE EGYPTIAN ARMY IN THE SUEZ CANAL, AS RECOUNTED BY ELEMENTS WHO WERE TANK COMMANDERS, PILOTS, AND LIAISON OFFICERS. FOR THOSE MASTERING ARABIC AND FRENCH, IT IS AN OPENING ON WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE CEASEFIRE NEGOTIATIONS WHERE OPPOSING ARMIES WERE FIGHTING FOR A BETTER NEGOTIATION POSITION.

Didn't you lose?
Lost what?
By any measure , the Egyptians outsmarted the IDF and the plan of attack put forward by Shazli decimated the IDF forces. It was Sadat who turned a victory to defeat by firing Shazli and taking his place..like Saddam did twenty years after in desert storm..
For the Algerian tank brigade that traveled by land and releaved the Egyptian the day of her arrival, defended a front of 30 kms with only hundred tanks, not only stabilized the front but they pushed back the IDF and gained territory...Ariel Sharon lost all his tank brigade to them with more than 700 of the best trained Israeli troops in the battle of the deversoir..

Ariel Sharon after the battle that pit his brigade against the 8eme BB

Most token forces ran away offering less than token resistance.
Fled?

Israel won decisively.
Not really...It was the first time that Israel learned that his bullying attitude ended.

Why didn't Egypt, Syria or any other Arab country except Saddam's Iraq attack Israel again then?

The one that fled this time was the IDF...Egyptian stormed the Bar Lev Line and pushed the Israeli deep in the Sinai and stood their ground...The Algerian 8 th BB decimated Ariel Sharon tank division and score of the best trained israeli paratroopers that were with him . Just he, his driver and his coordination officer managed to escape...

Naaah the Israelis won!!! The whole world knows it!!! The IDF beat the crap out of 'em. Well maybe they were able to cross the canal and manage to capture the Bar Lev Line, after that, the then President Sadat did not follow his Chief of Staff's advice Gen Shazly or somethin... So there!!!

@500 and @Natan a little help here in explaining!??!

Buddy, really 700 soldiers!??! I am having a hard time believing that..

Why ruining their epic stories about their decisive victories? ;)

This is purely for their internal consumption, it keeps stupid people stupid, and preserves the balance of power, which is comfortable for Israel these days.
You are correct, but it really hurts my eyes reading such claims... Its pathetic at best.
