Xiaomi always surprises the whole world with the new releases that they constantly make. Currently, their flagship is the Xiaomi Mi 8 which has been criticized for the lack of a fingerprint sensor on the screen, however, this does not stop the company who have decided to launch a second version called Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro. With regard to this device, we have great news for all the fans, it turns out that Donovan Sung, the spokesman of Xiaomi Global, announced through Twitter the early arrival of the Mi 8 Pro to other parts of the world outside of China.

In conjunction with this Tweet, Mr. Sung included some photographs of the unboxing in question, in which the design and packaging of the Mi 8 Pro could be clearly seen.

Features of the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro

You should know that in the photos in the Tweet there is a variant that has a translucent glass on the back, much like the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer. The colors of the device are Ocher Black and Twilight Gold. The mobile has an AMOLED screen of 6.26″ with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro also has infrared facial unlocking, this ensures that the device can be unlocked even in the dark with Face ID.

it is faster than iphone x and has half price

Xiaomi's corporate decision makers are still keeping on the safe side in terms of design. Cannot wait until they are brave enough to try slightly non-conventional and more daring designs like Vivo's Nex and Oppo's Find X. Copying iPhone is financially sound but surely they are wealthy enough to take more risks by now. Let Huawei fight in the conventional arena with the big players and win by offering more for less at equally competent but safe designs. The other smaller smartphone makers should focus on niches. BBK electronics is smart by letting Oppo and Vivo test and gauge the market for hidden camera, all screen design alternatives.

But, unlike BBK, for instance, Xiaomi is diversifying. For instance, MiJia. I guess they want to become a major smart home appliance maker, including software and cloud.

There are a few OEM of integrated smart home appliance makers in China and Xiaomi doesn't make that much in house if anything. They are mostly sub-contracted but Xiaomi practices exceptional business management and innovated in that field quite a lot actually. The history is interesting and provide some good case studies for management consulting students.

Xiaomi's venture into home appliances has just started and their devices like the motion alert sensor with light is ridiculously cheap in price and overwhelmingly positive in reviews. I bought a few just because I didn't find a single negative review. I bet they will diversify into other areas once their phone market share is eroded by other manufacturers. If they want to remain cashing in on the phone market, they need to hold onto the Indian market and they may need to venture outside of iPhone copying. That brings in huge revenue but it won't last forever because literally all other makers have medium range phones that basically copy iPhone (design and concept, sans iOS) as well. Soon the more cost-sensitive consumers around the developing world will have heaps to choose from. I wish Xiaomi the best. Love their business strategy and model.

Xiaomi LOOCK Smart Lock Q2 Unboxing

Suzie K.

On September 5, the Xiaomi ecological chain company, LOOCK once again joined forces with Xiaomi to launch the follow-up to the original model. The Xiaomi LOOCK Smart Lock Q2 is a high-end smart door lock, coming with enhanced features and appearance. It is priced at 2999 yuan ($439). Though there are a few improvements in terms of quality, experience, and safety, the main changes refer to two features – ‘automatic arming from home’ and ‘family reminder.’

As the Xiaomi LOOCK Smart Lock Q2 comes with better features, it’s quite interesting what those improvements mean in real use. When the user goes out, the door lock can be set to ‘Automatic Arming Mode.’ Once it’s done, the camera will automatically record and upload videos to protect the home security. When the user goes home, the camera will automatically turn off to protect the privacy from being violated. Moreover, when it is opened via the fingerprint method, the ‘main’ user can receive relevant prompts through the Mijia APP, without worrying about whether the child and parents are safely at home.

When the door lock is shaken, or the password is continuously inputted incorrectly 5 times, or the fingerprint input error is 15 times, the Xiaomi LOOCK Smart Lock Q2 not only has a high-pitched alarm but also can push notifications through the Mijia APP. In addition, users can remotely view the child lock switch, the lock status, and the mechanical key unlocks, and prevent the trailing and the home mode linkage through the Mijia APP.

Honestly, the Xiaomi LOOCK Smart Lock Q2 inherits the design of the Touch Concentric Circle Breathing Light. The fingerprint head, the handle cover, the handle base, and the breathing lamp are layered around the same center of the circle. The button lights of the Q2 can be controlled separately. Thus, when the user unlocks it with a password, not only the button sound can be heard but also the flashing of the number can be reduced, lowering the chance of pressing the wrong button.

The Xiaomi LOOCK Smart Lock Q2 has undergone 80 hours of acid salt spray experiments and 240 hours of salt spray experiments, far exceeding industry and national standards. Even when used in coastal areas, the appearance will never oxidize.

As the biggest market for Xiaomi phones, if India likes it then it will be a success.

Although this is a nice looking feature packed phone.

Hate Xiaomi so much!

I just brought Redmi Note 5 AI several months ago, but now the series 6 is released.

My phone is outdated now.

Another thing I hate about Xiaomi right now is... Sometimes new features that actually can be easily activated with software, they don't do it, the reason is because they are for more expensive or newer models.

The only solution is thru custom ROM that will make your warranty gone.
