The Tibet Railway does not make money, so why do we need to build it?

The government subsidies Tibet's roads and railways in hundreds of billions but why we still build them rapidly and massively in Tibet? check out what this Tibetan girl has to say about it.

With English subtitles

Cultural genocide, China forced all Tibetan young to finish college, who traditionally were destined to become either lamas or serfs in old Tibetan culture.

The railway itself may be not making money, but it is a stimulant/catalyst for the growth of local regional economies the value of which are much larger than the cost of the railway itself.

The opening up of Tibet due to easy railway access has been bringing in more tourists and two way transport of goods and commodities. The dynamic GDP growth of Tibet is evidence of the important contribution of the railway.

Tibet GDP per capita is still bottom low in China, only 58,262 yuan ( $8,700 ),but the cost of living there is also very low there and many public services are for free, like colleges for education and some other key majors are all completely free in Tibet, still, hopefully it can fast catch up with the rest of China soon.
