During the cold war years Pak used to enjoy large scale military exercises with the US, back in the 70s the US sent there F-111s over to karachi for joint exercises, chuck yager was a defence diplomat who would frequently be attached with the PAF, now since the 80s there hasn't been any large scale exercises similar to what took place back then, India frequently trains with the USAF/US ARMY/USN/RAF etc whilst pak has been limited to PLA/PAAF, there only so much they can teach us, as good as there army is they in no way compare to the others. the edge the PAF may have had in training is long gone in my opinion, and this is down to the reluctance of western nations to train with the pak armed forces on a grand scale.
having these exercises are eye opening because it allows you to fully understand the stregths and weaknesses of the army/navy/airforce.

Well we also Train with Chinese, Turkish, Saudi, British, American, and soon Russian armed forces.......

Well PAF visits Jordan, Turkey and US...for exercises with allied nations...there are pics of Paf fighters with F-22's on this forum, on what facts did u base your theory!!!

Infact airforce monthly magazine of July 2011 claimed PAF won all 3 kills against Royal airforce typhoons using f-16 a/b's ....in Anatolian eagle in 2010 !!!

Overseas training COST serious money

Fuel war supplies and other costs.

I have read somewhere PAF pilots fly 50% fewer hours training sorties than their india counterparts on the basis of COST

YOUR MILITARY BUDGET or lack of one is severly disrupting your capability not just in equipment but also war reserves and training hours with live ammo and overseas exposure.

Somebody in PDF will come up with some MADE UP propaganda like we have money , Saudi gives us dollars we use other funds etc. for training pensions etc

BUT the simple fact is $8 billion is tiny AND you are suffering as a result

Actually not needed. Unlike US, Britain or Russia our subcontinental forces do not need regular warfare training. Moreover in this region to know to fight, its them we should transfer our knowledge.

Hi,

We are steady at around 200 + - hours for the fighter pilots-----.

We've seen the results of their training in Afghanistan. We've accomplished FAR more than them. They could learn a thing or two from us.

Most people call the PLA/PLAAF as a private army owned by the CPC, so the benefits training with them is you get to be good at management and good at lot of show, pomp and bluster.

One cannot be sure how beneficial would that be in a real war situation.

I guess the poster of this thread has an inaccurate picture, PAF does regularly participate in exercises with Western allied nations in Turkey, Jordan and US other than exercises with China.
Other than that if one talks about counter insurgency, then again it was due to collaboration with US, Pak Army
transformed from a conventional army into an army ready to deal with all kinds of threats including counter insurgency. It changed over the passage of time, and the results can then be observed. Pak succeeded where 28 nations of the west failed. So there is no need to worry about that.

Why we go for exercise with those who repeatedly failed in every single war in the history from Vietnam to Iraq... to Afghanistan ?
