To be able to use that card u need to have a deal right now as its process takes time to be implemented ... on the other hand as much as the EU be more depended on energy is better for the US to fill the gap and extend its influence and gang on more against Russia as new members join NATO ... the Russian probably lose the EU market, the EU would be more depended on the US while Russian would remain under sanctions. but again it is up to new development on Ukraine war yet to see American would provide Ukraine with weapons that could reach deep inside Russian territory or not ... or Russia get their hands over something that could hit HIMARS that has been annoying.
At the end the deal gotta go through congress which this might postpone it to after election as it to messy to dealt with and gamble also isreal's election is ahead and that also make the water muddy too, however as it seems the other side is not willing to let go sanctions and PMD.
So it's more than a simple winter or spring.
It is too late for this winter gas. Only oil. Maybe gas for the next winter.

Well what they need is gas not oil and I don't think we could supply gas to them in short time even not next winter as most of it consumes domesticity.
Turkey has lost Caucasus, Corridors, Syria, inflation and also the EU and the US are not willing to embrace it so by gas storage wanna increase it weight and become middle man in this field as Ukrainian grain exports through the Black Sea was given to it too.
The US is not willing to let us in energy market so I don't think counting on this could gain us anything.

How times have changed that those sanctions with "extra teeth" have now been broken or worn away.

It’s on hold till after mid terms.
If Dems win and hold control, Biden will have enough political capital for a deal. If Dems get swept, it will then be tough for Iran to sign a deal with a party that will be ousted in 2024. Iran is watching this closely.
Plus Rahbar has not talked about the negotiations —another warning sign. Until he addresses the deal in more positive light no breakthrough is coming.
