What's new

Tesla Model S Plaid is quickest production vehicle in history; 0-60 in under 2 seconds; launch event this week

May all those dreams comes true someday!

But right now, it is making cars at a LOSS.

Doesn’t matter when your scaling at the pace Tesla is and selling every vehicle they produce.

0 to 60 in two seconds??

That’s like motorcycle time. Freaking rocket ship

You get better performance than high end vehicles like Ferrari for half the price.

No you don't, and there is more to performance metrics than 0-60. That Tesla is very heavy car which will not outperform high end performance cars on track and will overheat on track. Even 0-60 times of 2.0 can be achieved easily by gas powered cars with right gear ratios and tires. Those manufacturers are not looking to grab headlines with 0-60 time gimmick.

Btw, this 2.0 time will never be achieved in real conditions. And it's not necessary at all. It is lame gimmick to attempt to make his cars seem superior in performance. He is not a car guy or passionate about performance/experience like other manufacturers such as Porsche are. His 0-60 times is as real as his nurburgring lap times he quotes. He never put his 'performance' cars on track for official runs.

It’s Tesla’s world and everyone else is paying rent. That’ll be even more apparent when Berlin and Austin fully ramp in 2022, Cybertruck ramps, 4680 cells ramp and drastically increases their margins, new Gigas go under construction, and the $25k Model 2 are announced. Tesla is just at the beginning of their growth as a company. Their destined to be the most valuable company in the world in the next 5 years IMO.

Cybertruck is not real, just like his Tesla Roadster, he make false promises for investors. Tesla may become more a tech company than automotive one, but GM, VW, Ford, will all make better EV's than Tesla. And will eat Tesla share alive.

I think K.I.T.T. Achieved similar Accelerations.

It’s the fastest 0-60 production car in history and also fastest quarter mile in history.

Cybertruck begins full ramp in Giga Austin early next year, with some units potentially at the end of this year. It’s absolutely real, with over 1M reservations to date.

GM, Ford, and VW? Tesla has no competition. Their so far out in front it’s absurd. When you think like a dinosaur you are a dinosaur.

Says who? Elon Musk?

There is no official testing for the car. And any other performance vehicles that utilize AWD will beat the Tesla. It's sad Tesla need tri-motor setup and awd to achieve gimmick 0-60 times which means nothing. No other manufacturers are interested in these gimmicks. They need 1,100 hp out of three motors while performance cars with 500-700bhp achieve same quarter mile times.

None of their cars have any official track times. I mean real tracks, not 1/4 mile which is meaningless straight line performance measure. Tesla cars will overheat on real tracks, struggle to maintain composure and put power down on tracks due to heavy weight and inability to cool electric motors.

Tesla is only big because investors/governments want to turn automotive industry into service/tech industry which screws over consumers and robs them of more of their money. It is not competitive to GM, VW at all, in actual automotive sales share(6.8 million GM car sales vs .5 million Tesla). VW already eating up Tesla sales with ID4. Once they and GM start mass producing(using GM ultium platform in 2024 and years following that, than Tesla hype in automotive industry is over. So it has to move to energy industry, fake promises to drive up valuation, and getting investments/handouts to promise for converting automative industry into service/tech one which is much more profitable but terrible for consumers.

Like I said, when you think like a dinosaur, you are a dinosaur. Tesla is likely to become the most valuable company on the planet within 5 years. A generational company. No other EV manufacturer is scaling at the pace and efficiency Tesla is. There is no competition.

Let us see what the future holds for this company. With the current administration's green push, things may look better and better for them.

Can be as fast as it wants, I like my engine noise, I could get a Tesla instead of the car I’m planning on, but it doesn’t sound as cool, is riddled with Qc problems and also poor aftercare support.
