Once projects like this start, where the jobless young men are employed then you will see the real fruits of the regional co-operation, it will have strategic changing effects for all the countries involved especially the 3 brethren which has the most in common but still can't seem to make it work :) you know what I mean :P

Key Afghan ministers on Friday said that work on the long-awaited Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, which aims to transfer natural gas from Turkmenistan to the three other countries, will start in December.

India needs to be careful and i doubt India will be interested in this pipeline in remote possibility in present circumstances

India is part of the this project, no wonder its called TAPI. India as a regional power needs to show leadership by encourging such projects.

Oh the Indians will have pain in the buttocks because the pipeline passes through Pakistan.

don't you feel its not prudent on part of India to join this pipeline in present circumstances which in any case can go ahead without it

Given the clusterfcuk in Iraq, India will be mad to join this pipeline. Not to speak of supplying Pakistan with a lever to coerce us. India is buying 42% of the gas, so it may not be feasible without India either.

Iraq ? what has Iraq to do with the TAPI project :)

India has already agreed to be a part of the pipeline, your point is moot.

It's one pipeline, its not going to make India dependent on Pakistan.

If anything, India should be worried about the pipe going through Afghanistan, as the security situation there is getting worse. If the line is cut off in the future, it will probably be from Afghanistan.

Pakistan won't allow it to happen .

No need for India's Participation, Pakistan can benefit from the Gas Pipeline, may be transfer the gas to China via CPEC...

India is participating because it sees both economic, political and security benefits from such a regional project.
