world famous chinese porcelain pottery emerged between 8-12th century from a technological achievement called stoneware manufacturing, the technological break through commonly thought to have occured in china but stoneware jewellery discovered from Indus Valley Civilization astonishingly proves how far ahead Indus Civilization was in many aspects and how close they came in achieving pottery making level only achieved by china few hundred to a thousand years ago.
IVC stoneware bangles clinged like glass and cracked like one when struck with other objects.
faience was a technological advancement made by all bronze age civilizations, but vitrification resulting in faience compared to stoneware was different as stoneware required much more higher kiln temperature compared to it
After achieving such technological breakthrough, it was merely used for manufacturing bangles and not pottery which seems very strange, the technology completely disappeared after bronze age collapse and its only until 1200 BC luxurious northern black polished ware would appear again.
