This was proposed a LONG time ago, it is not Modi-specific. The Delhi Metro Corporation had conducted viability tests if I remember correctly. The purpose was 2 fold- secure travel to get to an airstrip but also to lessen the impact on the general public every time the PM went to the airport from 7 RCR as the traffic disruption every time the PM moves is considerable.


I wonder how true this particular bit of news is though, wouldn't be all that surprising if it was true to be honest. There is already a massive bunker under 7 RCR that was constructed in the past few years with no one really reporting on it.
