Something is happening on Varyag

In two days ago the Varyag was transferred and docked in the neighboring shipyard. It's said that PLAN would install equipments on it to re-build it as a carrier training ship.

Apparently someone has set up a webpage around this ship. Amazing!!

This was a ex-soviet ship bought by China from Ukraine.

In November 1998, Cheng Zhen Shu, chairman of Chong Lot Travel Agency, has said that Varyag would become a multi-functional entertainment centre, with 600 room hotel, casino, discotheque, restaurants and night-clubs, and has called it Ocean Entertainment Centre.

In May 2005, the Varyag was placed in dry dock and, in early August, it emerged painted in People's Liberation Army Navy gray.

And Guess what...forget this varyag China is really thinking of getting its hands on aircraft carriers...this Image proves that there is some serious training going on in China Pilots are being trained well ahead of inducting aircraft carriers in coming years..

Makes sense.
They have had a couple of aircraft carriers in the works for a while. Maybe Varyag will be used as a training platform for the pilots even if it never will sail. Fits in with the earlier idea of a "training ship".

Good one. Makes you think, doesn't it? I read a report today that if Canada took all the money it has spent on the war in Afghanistan today and put it into housing, there would be no more homeless people in the entire country. We need to ask similar questions in Pakistan as well.

But, if it's any consolation, yours is still not the worst situation in the region. India has 0.46 billion people below the international poverty line, 42% of the country, making one third of the world's entire poor population. And yet, the $10.5 billion MRCA jet fighter deal goes on without a second thought. The greatest polarization of any country on Earth, 53% of the wealth is in the hands of less than 10% of the country. I really hope that the Indians can get past all the India-Pakistan political propaganda and vote for a party that will truly do something for the poor. At least they have a free electoral system that can save them.

aimarraul...China is not thinking its already on its way designing or and making its Aircraft carrier(s) this picture is evident to it why would china train pilots for AC then?and why would china even talk to russians for su-33?? people are poor everywhere but with such hostilities to china by US/NATO/India/Japan/South Korea/Taiwan i would like to see atleast 2 ACs in China by 2020.

Dear Sir,

One is inclined to take hope from the steadily improving position of the BSP, backed by Dalits and poor Muslims, and some other sections as well. There will be some temporary turbulence, but in the medium term, this can only be a positive development.

I think the picture is probably Russian, as you may see the flag on the flanker.

Chinese carrier command and control training started in 1987 with selected pilots. After 4 years of training they have been rotated in various posts in the naval fleet, including commanding captain of a destroyer. The second picture shows one of these trained officers, a potential captain for the future aircraft carrier.
