Sending these poor men out to fight an imaginary foe only to ask America to send more military funds.

Nothing else.

One day these soldiers will rebel against these begging generals.

How are afghans a imaginary foe???

There is no "intense exchange of gunfire". These FC troops are sitting ducks. The TTP terrorists conduct recce at leisure, pick their targets, hit it and are gone before anyone even knows what hit them.

For those asking for MRAPs etc., do realize that those would be helpful however only during a move or patrol, but most of these casualties are happening during raids on FC posts. That tells you there is no early warning...most of these posts have no or very limited night vision capability when these raids take place. These paramilitary troops have massive odds stacked up against themselves on account of less than optimal environment, equipment, training and tactics. Regular troops would fare no better sitting in these posts.

The casualty rate is almost 1:1 against the terrorists (or ours maybe higher than that of the terrorists). Speaks to extremely shoddy force protection measures and shear helplessness in the face of TTP attacks because these terrorists need to be uprooted ruthlessly with pacification operations in that entire region.

The only upside is that there is no shortage of manpower in Pakistan. For each casualty suffered, there are 10 more young men ready to join FC given the paucity of jobs in the country and this is why there is little focus on better protection/armour for troops.

After each such incident, the families are conveyed condolences, dua and mubarak on the shahadat of their father, son and then its business as usual.

"Sanitisation of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area." These idiotic statements from ISPR amount to nothing. One wonders why sanitization is happening post-fact and not proactively.

The ISPR press releases are becoming pathetic now. 'Terrorists were sent to hell'. This is exactly like a TTP press release reversed. What's next, we are going to say our Mujahideen fought valiantly? This really does not seem professional or apt.

Coming to the larger issue at hand, the casualties of FC in the past few months have been worrisome. I do not like bringing political affairs into military threads, but on this occassion it would be imperative to do so.

Counter terror ops or rehabilitation efforts in those areas cannot be undertaken unless they are civilian led. The military has to losen it's stranglehold, and the civilian setup has to take charge. It did make some headway during the PTI KP government, but in the past year and specifically since the new year, as with all governmental affairs, matters are at a stand still.

The civilian setup needs to give a clear direction on the peace talks, it needs to take the local population in confidence, and it needs to work hand in hand with the military.

Idhr sab hi sattu pi kar soye huay hain, and as you said, as a result we see these ISPR press releases, the usual dua and mubarak on shahadat, and everyone moves on.

Waziristan should be given to Afghanistan.
If you disagree let me know what good this area has ever given to Pakistan, and compare it to the deaths, financial losses and international insults to Pakistan caused by this area.
Also please don't give me the 75 year old "fought for Kashmir " بھاشن

I dislike it myself. Pathetic photoshop job in the first place. Moreover, there is absolutely no need of doing this anyway.
Was this an ambush ? Or attack on a checkpost ?

It was very peaceful before 9/11 from what I heard. There's a large Waziri diaspora in Karachi and the Gulf.

At most Waziristan should be autonomous and kicked out of KPK. There's way too much bloodbath for this to keep going on. I don't think Waziristan is prepared to move ahead with the rest of KPK.

financial losses and international insults to Pakistan caused by this area.

What's your opinion on Balochistan?

There's also problems going on there too, if Pakistan gives Waziristan away then it can be seen by others as "weakness".

Anyone can go online and watch the ambushed video of the FC/regular Army on sites like funker530 (totally white trash site btw), and as a professional soldier, I can easily point out the lack of training and situational awareness. I can’t watch them for long as it hurt me to see such (lack of) disciple.

As @PakFactor pointed out, you had 20 years of upfront seats watching the ISAF forces in action, heck even the Taliban have more situation awareness than this proud colonial army. 6 families that lost a breadwinner, father, brother, son etc and they’ll be told by subhuman atheist/secular cowards in GHQ that these soldiers are “Shaheed” case closed! On to next ambush.

I’m thankful I didn’t join this corrupt army. Say what you want about the U.S. but they take care of their soldiers as the American people demand it.

Indeed, it's a night and day treatment difference between the two forces and how their high command thinks. The American military is about preserving their boys so they can continue to fight another day. At the same time, as I've seen serving officers in Pak Army say, there's more we can recruit from, and our boys have jazba. So to me, fighting because you have jazba and dying is a useless death.

During the time of one of the four rightly guided Caliph Hazrat Umar, let me tell you. There was a battle, and when they came back victorious, Hazarat Umar's first question was how many were shaheed, and one of the officers responded, saying, "a few." Hazrat Umar responded by saying that "few" is one too many. Now some scholars say it was the officer's attitude who brushed it off as not a big deal that triggered Hazarat Umar to respond angrily at the officer. Even in that time, they valued human life more than our own.

Now, I will not say it's just officers here on PDF, but several relatives of mine have the same attitude while they commanded troops under them. It's how they are programmed.

The fact that none of the MRAPS or Armoured troops transport moved to mass production, despite more than 20 years of insurgency, baffling.

Don’t get me wrong, as a Shia we have a thing for Shahadat and matrydom given our history with Karbala. But these atheists cum seculars are now just plainly abusing recruits from Muslim families. It’s a lazy argument and it’s up to the majority of the population (Sunnis) to rise up and reclaim their country from those are use religion as a napkin to be thrown away.

I’m gonna add this for those members who have a personal enmity with my sect, Shia leaders are as committed to their cause as any lowly foot soldier in their organizations. Anyone can google how many generals have fought in ground combat across the Middle East and worked their way up to the top rank. Even someone like Solimani, who fought on the front lines to his last days. Show me one general in Pakistan that has the same commitment? You can’t. It’s a compromised organization from Major and up.

PS: Why do they do photoshop in the first place? It's not so clear in this image but they photoshop that armor onto the soldiers uniform. Literally every single news item about soldiers being martyred that I've seen on DAWN has the armor photoshopped onto the soldier

@PanzerKiel , sir, what's the reason for this?
