I would have liked to see Lt General Syed Ata Hasnain, GOC, 15th Corps, Srinagar, become the 1st Muslim Army Chief. He is an extremely solid and talented officer.

Seriously don't insult the IA- it is a completely secular institution and the members do not see one another based on religion but see soldiers and comrades. If this guy is the senior most officer at time of any COAS retirement then he will become COAS no doubt but if he isn't then there is no reason for him to attain this position. It will happen by itself eventually anyway, there are plenty of Muslim officers so it is only a matter of time.

What's with the title, "Sikhs Ruling India"? That's incorrect! Right now the 'sick' are ruling India starting from lame duck prez Pratibha Patil all the way down to that clown named Alagiri! In short, India is being ruled by a bunch of IDIOTS! :hitwall:

Dubious character becoming IA chief. Rape allegations, Fake encounter allegations. With such two major allegations, he should have been skipped over.
Wow! Dubious character? Rape allegations? You're making it out as though he's been on a raping spree! C'mon man I thought you knew better. Or was it your intention to troll?

For your information, the PIL alleged that Bikram Singh was involved in a fake encounter in 2001 and which alleges that Lt Gen Singh failed to act against officers involved in sexual harassment and rape when they were posted in Congo in 2008 as part of the UN peace-keeping mission.

In March 2001, a man was killed in an encounter by the Army on the outskirts of Anantnag in Kashmir. Lt Gen Singh was then a Brigadier heading the 1 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, headquartered in Anantnag. The encounter was proved to be genuine and NOT fake.

He was injured in this encounter and was given a gallantry award. A colonel and another jawan were killed in the firing between the two sides. It was proved in the court that the man, who was killed, was a wanted foreign militant and the case was closed.

If he's a dubious character as you say, then Kayani and Pasha are dubious characters too. You know that better than I do!
