Saudi Arabia has executed 47 people for terrorism, including the prominent Shi'ite Muslim cleric Nimr al-Nimr, the Interior Ministry said Saturday. Most of those executed were said to be involved in a series of attacks carried out by Al Qaeda between 2003 and 2006.

Iran has warned that executing Nimr "would cost Saudi Arabia dearly," Reuters reported.

This is going to unleash a shitstorm in Iran, Iraq and other countries with sizable Shiite communities. We might even see an uprising in Saudi's eastern provinces.

Shias are more busy in Iraq, syria and yemen's matter . They cannot take on saudia but it is also true that saudia is a center of their problem. It would have been better if they have used their efforts against their actual rival instead of wasting their precious lives in several other countries. I also don't think that Pakistan would like to become part of any sectarian war.

Nimr al-Nimr rejected any violence, and even called Assad an oppressor.

The Saudis have executed someone only for speaking out against Saudi's oppression of political activists.

Leave these ayatollah trolls aside ..what they say publicly is only for media consumption by fools...instigation by Nimr Al-Nimr led to gunning down of four police men in Eastern region. You must spend some time with Iranian and Iraqi clergy to understand their psychology....

Why is this Sheikh Nimr towing the Iranian line on regional plans about Bahrain and East Saudi Arabia??

One should know their punishment before engaging in treason..

Sheikh Nimr had called in 2009 for separating the Eastern Province's Shia-populated Qatif and al-Ihsaa governorates from Saudi Arabia and uniting them with Shia-majority Bahrain.

Last year, a special court in Riyadh sentenced him to death for "sedition", "disobedience" and "bearing arms".
