BANGALORE, India. Feb 5 (Interfax) - Russia will deliver seven MiG-29K/KUB deck-based fighters in 2013 as part of a contract on the shipment of 29 such aircraft, Russian Federal Military-Technical Cooperation Service director Alexander Fomin told Interfax.
"We have successfully completed the deliveries within the framework of the first contract. We shipped 16 aircraft. We delivered four aircraft under the second contract fro 29 units. We plan to supply seven more [MiG-29K/KUB] this year," Fomin told journalist ahead of the Aero India 2013 show in Bangalore.
The deck-fighters are intended to be used aboard the Vikramaditya carrier, he said.
The first contract for the delivery of 16 MiG-29K/KUB deck-based multirole fighters was signed in 2004. The second one for 29 aircraft was signed in 2010.
The first aircraft under the first contract was shipped to India in late 2009. The Indian Navy adopted MiG-29K/KUB on February 19, 2010.
