NEW DELHI: Russia has agreed to look at ways to advance the delivery of the S-400 Triumf missile defence system following India’s request amid growing tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Economic Times has reliably gathered that this issue figured during defence minister Rajnath Singh’s meetings in Moscow with Russian officials including deputy PM Yury Borisov on Tuesday. Defence secretary Ajay Kumar also held separate meetings with his Russian counterpart.

Russia had postponed the delivery of the S-400 system to December 2021 on account of the Covid-19 pandemic. New Delhi, sources said, is keen that Moscow makes special arrangement for India’s order, which has apparently been bunched with some other countries.

On the issue of ‘reliability of supplies’, Russia has assured India that it will maintain its military commitments in any situation, sources said.

Moscow may also expedite a JV between the two countries to manufacture spare parts of Soviet and Russia-made defence equipment, ET has further learnt. The pact was signed in 2019. The status of 200 Kamov Ka-226T helicopters and Self-Propelled Air Defence Gun Missile System (SPAD-GMS) project also came up for discussion.

Also discussed in the same meeting and reported in the article
JV for Kamov Helicopters

A joint venture has been formed between Indo-Russian Helicopters Limited (IRHL) and Russian Helicopters Holding Company for production of Kamov helicopters.

Singh was in Moscow on a three-day visit at the invitation of the Russian Ministry of Defence to attend the 75th Anniversary of Victory Day Parade.

“India and Russia enjoy special and privileged strategic partnership, and defence relationship is one of its important pillars,” Singh said after his meetings. He described his discussions as “very positive” and “productive”. He was assured that ongoing contracts will be maintained and in some cases “will be taken forward in a shorter time”.

Borisov is the co-chair of the Inter-Governmental Commission with India on Trade and Economic and Scientific Cooperation. He also co-chairs with Singh the High-Level Committee on Science and Technology.

Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla had also met Russian Ambassador to India Nikolai Kudashev amid the ongoing standoff. Politically too, Russia has emerged as a key point of contact in the on-going tensions between India and China. Despite the stand-off on the LAC, India acceded to Russian requested and attended the RIC Foreign Ministers meet.

Russia had called for strengthening dialogue between both sides after the June 15 incident in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed.

In the 1962 conflict too, Indian troops were transferred to Dault Beg Oldi in Ladakh via Russian made MI4 choppers. Then Soviet leader Nikita Krushchev was also upset with his Chinese counterpart Mao Tse Tung for stirring up the boundary trouble with India and occupation of Tibet, leading to the Dalai Lama’s escape.

china has operationalized their s400 near siachin, also chinese have studied this system and have developed their missiles with ability to defeat it and there are reports that j20 cannot be intercepted by s400 and also many chinese cruise missiles

Russians already Know the countermeasures for S400 & same were shared with Chinese....and from there onwards it was passed down to Pakistan....so Indian has been checkmate

When India Navy invite Yankees to Akula-class submarine in 2017

‘Chakra’ opened to 3rd eyes: India reportedly allowed US Navy to visit Russian sub

I feel sorry for Russians, and shocked by Indian mentality.

Now, ask Russians how they feel if Yankees hands on India's S-400?
I am sure the Russians thank you for your "feeling".
Sources said that a team from James Fischer Defence UK went on board to examine the compatibility of its submarine rescue systems with the nuclear boat.

S400 should have been inducted but its too late for India. What's the point no one is using there Jets other than India. They are using for photoshoot at Leh to calm their people. India is moving its artillery armor infantry and even 11000 workers from Jharkand to make roads still complaining about things.

Between China and India who do you think Russia will bet on? Back them up? Russians aren't that stupid they know you have moved to US camp and they know you give bad publicity to their weapons.
Indians and their wish list.

Okay.

True. However Indian authorities have to do something to show they are aggressively trying to sort out the issue. The procurement is the easiest way to do it!

S-400 is very effective against Pakistan. But it is not effective against China
