The US State Department in its annual human rights report for 2021 stated that there were reports of widespread impunity for security force abuses and corruption in Bangladesh.

"The government took few measures to investigate and prosecute cases of corruption and abuse and killing by security forces," said the "2021 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices: Bangladesh".

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken launched the global report tonight.

Significant human rights issues included credible reports of unlawful or arbitrary killings, including extrajudicial killings; forced disappearance; torture or cases of cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment by the government or its agents on behalf of the government.

The rights issues also include harsh and life-threatening prison conditions; arbitrary arrests or detentions; political prisoners; politically motivated reprisals against individuals in another country; serious problems with the independence of the judiciary and arbitrary or unlawful interference with privacy.

Domestic human rights organization Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) reported at least 80 individuals died in extrajudicial killings during the year, including 51 in so-called shootouts or crossfires with law enforcement agencies.

Between May 2018 and June, ASK reported a total of 606 incidents of alleged extrajudicial executions.

According to another human rights organization, Odhikar, of 71 incidents of alleged extrajudicial killings between January and September 30, 35 deaths resulted from gunfights with law enforcement, 30 persons were shot by law enforcement, and six others died from alleged torture while in custody.

In 2020, Odhikar reported a total of 225 alleged extrajudicial executions, down from 391 incidents in 2019.

Human rights organizations and civil society expressed concern regarding the alleged extrajudicial killings and arrests, claiming many of the victims were innocent.

This is exactly what was happening before imposing sanctions by the USA. Now, the situation seems to be better.

Without sanctions, BD was following the North Korean brand of one party, non election and family dominance in the politics.

If Bangladesh join USA side ( God forbid) all will be resolved! LMAO!
Your idea is if BD joins the USA-led QUAD, all sanctions will be lifted. Is it not your as usual simpleton mind that thinks like that? Sanctions were imposed on the RAB because its members had the impunity from the GoB to detain or kill anybody.

Perhaps, you do not like to accept the truth. And BD has good relationship with the USA and is getting all kinds of monetary helps. Even BD received $1.5 billion so far from the USA for the Rohingya rehabilitation.

The USA does not want BD to become another N. Korea led by a single family without democracy. Perhaps, you are unable to understand this small thing and propagate wrong thesis.

We already see the fruit of democracy in Pakistan. Your USA punished Imran Khan because he raised voice against them. ( That's why they returned family dynasty in Pakistan again).

It's not my word , but Vladimir Putin said it.

But Putin, Imran Khan and also Hasina understand it.

When NATO absorbs members in Asia to fight for the 'democratic, freedom-loving' people, Bangladesh can join and allow NATO bases there. No worries, China is not Russia.

American government telling other countries how to treat their citizens while this stuff happens at home:

Do as I say, not as I do

While I don't know the internal politics of BD, but I have observed Saudi's corrupted family is still in control of SA after decades. Gaddafi and his family were allowed to control, I meant 'control' as in total dictatorship, Libya for decades until Gaddafi decided to export oil not using Dollars. Pakistan is returned to long-standing family control after a free electrion put someone outside of the establishment to the top post.

Now, am I missing something in your arguments?

Do you really live in the Moon that you talk about the IK claim so easily without knowing the truth? You must be very naive not to understand IK propaganda.

BD and all other countries need democracy. Period!

Imran Khan propaganda? I would discuss it thousand of pages , as what's happening in Pakistan is a part of Sino Russia vs USA west proxy wars. But with you I'm not ready to start this argument ,not even few words. Because I don't consider you worthy of such discussion.

What we see in the name of western democracy is sort of colonial slavery. So well from colonial slaves I don't expect better than such decisive words.

But I don't think others will pay a sh!t on this. Neither China Russia , nor many other countries in the world.

Because democracy is not a divine mandate. But if you guys consider democracy as divine mandate ,you keep practicing it , I have no problem.

NATO ends within Europe. The USA wants a reliable partner. It does not trust Pakistan. India with all its issues with China does not trust the USA. So, the USA wants a country in between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia to control rogue countries like China.

It seems, it wants BD to serve that purpose. You can expect a kind of small conflict in the region that may cause BD to rely heavily on the USA.

Don't bother trying to have a rational conversation with that individual. You will just be wasting your time.

To people like them, US is sinless. US never meddles in other's business. US never uses these tactics to coerce and manipulate other countries. We should all bow down to whatever Uncle wants, because Uncle knows the best.
