Reactor of India's first indigenous nuclear submarine INS Arihant goes 'cri

Very good news, today INS Arihant reactor goes critical and on monday INS Vikrant will be launched.Great going this month is exciting.:cheesy:

August is the Best month for India..... Independence day, IAC, Arihant!! Howitzer Approval From US!!! Simply WoW!

But it will be better for IN to have about 11 of the remaining LPDs from USA with upgrades along with 5 LHDs too as China or other conflict is near and these ships will be quite helpful in such regards. I think if some clever people in IN are present then they will hit a deal with USA very soon.

It ain't important what you think is better for the Indian Navy and your assumption that India is nearing a conflict.

So will IN going to produce about 6-8 of these???

Cant say about 6 or 8 but a total of 5 is initially planned but currently 4 are confirmed. When these 4 or 5 are completed it will be succeeded by even larger follow on class of Arihant Nuke submarine with size twice than that of current Arihant class submarines and that is already approved by the Govt of India but the construction of larger follow on class submarine will follow only after the delivery of these 4 nuke submarine currently under construction.

Although IN has acquired 1 Austin class LPDs but is there any possibility that India will look towards getting the remaining 11 more Austin Class LPDs from US along with 5 Tarawa Class LHDs from USA with Upgrades.

As all this can help them to put greater power in the Indian Ocean and may be beyond too.

Comes with a lot of strings.Dont think the jalashwa can be used in offensive war under the terms of purchase

nope..we're going to buy few(around 4) new LPDs..the specification suggests something alike Mistral Class...

Guys don't give reply to Nishan_101. He will derail the thread with his foolish questions.

OT: Great news.

No its not like that Un-Officially those LPDs and LHDs can be put against in war against anyone as money have been paid by India and not gained on Loan or as AID....

I am sure you understand better:taz:

Sir, would you be kind enough and not derail the thread by posting about amphibious assault ships and LPHs/LPDs. Kindly stay on the topic at hand otherwise deviating posts tend to severely clutter a thread and ruin any semblance of cogency.

As for current reports a total of 4.
INS Arihant
INS Aridhaman

other two yet to be named.

Have some questions regarding Arihant.

1. What is the maximum depth Arihant can go?

2. What will be radius of operation in future? Only Indian ocean?

3. During firing of the SLBM what minimum depth Arihant has to operate?

OK and LPDs too. Also IN will be having more submarines... SSK Class.

SSk??there is news about announcement of P-75I which will be declared shortly..but it'll take a lot of time..India also going to procure/lease a second Akula class subs..

Have some questions regarding Arihant.

1. What is the maximum depth Arihant can go? ---Test depth around 300m..sure it can go way more...

2. What will be radius of operation in future? Only Indian ocean?---until foods run out..any Nuclear subs has unlimited range..only shortcoming they'll face is food..

3. During firing of the SLBM what minimum depth Arihant has to operate?--don't know as it is not been tested from submarine yet..it was launched from 50m depth during test..surely it can launch from much shallow depth..

1. Test depth is 300 mts. Actual no idea.

2. Unlimited as its a N-Sub (Till food supplies last)

3. Sagarika (The N missile it will carry) was tested from about 50 meters deep. No idea how more deep it could fire from.
