You know what in Kargil most of the weapons used where from American origin.. secondly F-16 birds where not part of the war... fearing Mig-29... We underestimated the seriousness initially but the skill employed by IAF and IA helped us win...
Do you even know what 10 km> is in mordern day combat...........the news papers and media all over the world would've been filled with images and stories about F-16s escorting Su 30s...........
Heck with flankers flying..........armed with R-73.........30 mm canon.....plus TVC.......I don't think even F-22 would get as close as 10 km.........never minds its Pakistan after all.
You do not think Kargil also was an asymmetric type of warfare,
The IAF did what was akin to searching a needle in haystack, with NLI entrenching themselves in pockets along the valley.
Excerpts from the same:

NATO flew 21,000 sorties over Yugoslavia and lost only 2 aircraft. India flew 500 sorties during Kargil and lost four not a combat record I'd boast about.

Didn't you lost a F117 i must say a super stealthy aircraft shot down by rag tag army with SA 3 and same thing happened with F 16C over yogosalavia ..Atleast you could say we lost 2 3rd generation aircrafts due to lack of counter measures for stingers lol but hey its US OF A ,we always fight our own war and take care of ourselves unlike some who still fighting for over a decade and almost in the verge of run away from battle ground...
You didn't answer my question
Why did the Indian Air Force send unprotected (no flare dispensers) on CAS missions when the adversary is known to have one of the best man portable anti aircraft missile? Is the IAF not responsible for the death of the 5 crew members that became victims of the Stinger?
The IAF immediately went into a reappraisal mode and came out with GPS-assisted high altitude bombing by MiG-21, MiG-23BN and MiG-27 as a makeshift solution. In the meantime, quick modification on the Mirage-2000 for day/night laser bombing kits (Litening pods) was initiated with the help of Israelis. Conventional bombing that started incessantly after a two-day operational hiatus, was aimed at harassment and denial of respite to the infiltrators, with consequent adverse effects on morale.
Where did you come up with this conclusion? The F16's at no point feared the MIG29's, stop making up random B.S. The F16's were employed and it was not the MIG29s, but lack of spares that kept it back. Spares were being preserved in case a full shooting war breaks out. It were not only the F16's but the entire PAF that was not part of the war as the IAF fighters never crossed the border. Indeed great skill applied by IAF and IA, an entire division was needed to take out a battalion that had no air support, Good Job Indeed.
PAF never released the HUD pictures to any news outlet, but the picture was shown to Admiral Mullen to make it clear to the Indians that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated. PAF and IAF are professional entities, pictures and news like this is not fed to the media.

This is quite debatable that Serbians downed F-117 with skilled shot or with luck. Apparently, they studied the pattern and concentrated their missile battries in that specific area. The missles fired were SA-3 which were manually guided to the target and used heat sources as homing beacon. Serbians claim that they were able to detect the F-117 with operating their radars on longer wave lenght, Yet had it been working then they would not have deployed the spotters on the area which they did. They fired a lot of missiles in the expected direction of F-117 as soon as one was spotted in hope of one scoring, which eventually happened. Let me recall the interview of F-117 pilot (i think capt dwelle) in which he said that he was able to dodge most of the missiles and the casualty was not a result of direct hit, but an SA-3 exploding in proximity. Though Serbians claimed they had "modified" their radars for f-117 detection, yet they were never been able to differentiate their claim.Didn't you lost a F117 i must say a super stealthy aircraft shot down by rag tag army with SA 3 and same thing happened with F 16C over yogosalavia ..Atleast you could say we lost 2 3rd generation aircrafts due to lack of counter measures for stingers lol but hey its US OF A ,we always fight our own war and take care of ourselves unlike some who still fighting for over a decade and almost in the verge of run away from battle ground...

whats the point?......Who said that ?? The pilot who lost his plane and country who lost her pride.War is no luck but all effort man.India fought its war single handly but USA needs its allies .There is no comparison between US and India .
