QUETTA: A powerful blast followed by another explosion on Zarghon Road in Quetta killed four people while injuring 18 others on Wednesday, Express News reported.

The area is reported to be a local commercial hub, and is suffering from a severe traffic jam following the blast.

Police and rescue services have arrived on site, but definite details of the incident have yet to emerge.

The bomb disposal squad said that the first explosion used 6-7 kilograms of explosive material.

Police did say that the second explosion happened due to a CNG cylinder exploding inside a car.

The injured, three of whom are understood to be in a very critical condition, are being transported to local hospitals by Edhi ambulances.

Reports indicated that the explosive material may have been placed in a car.

The explosions destroyed nearby buildings, cars and shattered windows. Widespread panic was witnessed at the site of the blast.

President, PM condemn incident

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have strongly condemned the blasts. They directed authorities to extend the best possible medical treatment to the injured.

I can't understand that whenever I open up the news I find news of some attack or other on Pakistan. We need to ask some important questions, for example such as why we have failed to stop the tide of bomb attacks in Pakistan and failed to eliminate the Taliban utterly. We need to eliminate the Taliban and sectarian terrorists like the Lashkar E Jhangvi if we are to survive.

I believe Pakistan has never, baring the 1971 loss of Bangladesh, gone through a more sad time. Daily we are forced to mourn the deaths of our fellow citizens. We need to take solid action against the terrorists and need to eliminate them utterly. We must punish the Taliban severely and leave not one place for them to escape to.

This seems to be the hallmark of the terrorists; create fear by random killing and destruction. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of innocent people killed in this senseless bombing. Have we noticed that the enemy chooses heavy traffic areas, crowded bazaars and prayer time mosques filled with worshipper when they attack? The need of the time is for us to unite and go after this common enemy with full force so the people, who have already rejected these terrorists, can take a sigh of relief and go on with their lives in a normal way. Don’t the people of the region deserve this?
