No. Simple land-line phone can do the job as well or laptop. This is being done for security issues and after recent bombings we should not give easy ground to the militants to strike again if cannot stop them completely.

ECP this year is using a mobile app to get official results from polling booths. This won't work without mobile internet service

That is why internet is down because if local service is available they use internet instead of satphones. If they only use satphones interception is much easy.

I think, there is no benefit to suspend mobile service in country.
