In the wake of recent increase of incidents of sectarian violence in Pakistan, the American Shia Muslims urge the government of Pakistan to provide protection to the Mourners of Imam Hussain(as) and hold accountable those responsible for targeted killings.

The targeted killings of Shia are a barbaric attempt at sectarian and ethnic cleansing. “The government’s failure to break up the extremist groups that carry out these attacks calls into question its commitment to protect all of its citizens.”

Wahabbi militant groups such as the supposedly banned Lashkar-e Jhangvi operate with impunity even in areas where state authority is well established, such as Punjab and Karachi.
the military, law enforcement agencies and the Frontier Corps (FC) are responsible for the security of the people and they should safeguard the lives of the people belonging to a community under attack by the extremists.

National and provincial authorities should make all possible efforts to quickly apprehend and appropriately prosecute those responsible for the attacks and other crimes targeting the Shia population.

President Zardari needs to understand that the will of the government to protect ordinary people is measured by action, ”As far as protecting the Shia is concerned, Pakistan’s government has been all talk and no action.”

We will hold government of Pakistan, responsible for any future attacks on our processions and on congregations in Pakistan, so please respect our holidays.

Thank You and Regards,
Raza Mehkeri

Why do they mourn in the first palce? Is Imam Hussain more important than all the other prophets that his death anniversary is mourned? Why not mourn the death of all the other prohpets?

I am sure this post will be deleted ASAP

And what about the targetted looting by the politicians. Is the mourning of Imam Husain more important than using some pressure to stop the looting and destruction of the nation?

Shi'ite are the ruling elites of Pakistan and still their own ruler failed to protect them, Their are some decendents of Sufis elected in the name of their elders are the part of parliament including P.M Gillani. why not to ask them ?

Imam Hussein (AS) belongs to All, no matter shia or sunni! All muslims mourn for the death of Imam Hussein (AS)!

His bravery is what caused true spirit of Islam to survive! He stood against a lanatee guy yazeeed who was bent on destroying true Islam! It is Imam Hussein (AS)'s example that leads true muslims to stand against Baatil, no matter what the cost!

Infact majority of the Police force consist of this sect, but the problem lies elsewhere...

I think the recent massacre was in connection with the Iran's visit to Pakistan, for regional cooperation... which went very well... but some other powers/countries didnot like it.... It was an attempt to sabotage the process of regional cooperation... and create mistrust among the two nations, who are backing each other right now in full swing.

ofcourse there are external forces that want to keep the two apart for their own vested interests... If we cooperate and work together for our common interests, it will minimize the value of those external forces to iota !

tou woh yahan Afghanistan mein amb lainay tou nahi bethay na !!

While the Pakistani LEAs have successfully clamped on terror networks inside the country, capturing & killing countless militants, the only way to ensure lasting peace inside Pakistan is not to be divisive, but to 'acclimatize', which my sect has failed to do miserably. It is not possible to kill each & every terrorist/extremist in the country, the best way to eliminate terrorism is by deradicalizing/revitalizing people that may become inspired by extremist ideology, to make sure that the extremists fall go into the realm of terrorism. There are not just Sunni extremist groups, there are plenty of extremist Shia groups as well. We need to make ourselves counted for, & let people know what we stand for, because sometimes, even educated people have misconceptions about what we believe in.

We need a proper legislation so that terrorists cant get freedom after trial in courts due to "lack of evidences". The courts let 3 of 4 terrorists free, due to "lack of evidences", & that record is definitely not good enough. The Pakistani courts are not good enough to prosecute terrorists. We need proper legislation and terrorism act should be more effective.

Pakistan has the second largest Shia Muslim population in the world after Iran, & we love our nation very much.

Let's protect all Pakistanis? There is an ongoing assault on Pakistan from American army and terrorists, it will be unfortunate to highlight one sides killing over the other and further confuse people and in turn stoke up more violence.

Pakistan has had sectarian violence for decades, a long time before the US "assaulted" Pakistan.

And the foolish public falls for the bait. Even if they were from the the lineage of the prophet but since they are not sincere and honest with their country and their people they don't deserve any respect. They should be lyunched and shoes should be thrown at them.

The scum attempting sectarian killings will be dealt with, regarding Imam Hussain - he was one of the greatest Muslims and human beings.

Can you please not respond with irrelevant arguments?

Mr. Raza (should you knew better, it is actually Riza) Mehkery, why do you think those mourners aren't actually happy to join in death the ranks of the man they mourn?
