Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd has revealed final design aspect of stealth frigates to be developed under the Navy’s Project 17A. Project 17A is a follow-on of the Project 17 Shivalik-class frigates which already are in service with the Indian Navy. Under Project 17A frigates GRSE will construct three 6,700-tonne stealth frigates worth Rs 20,000 crore which will incorporate latest stealth features with improved weapon platform. Italian Shipyard Fincantieri is providing technical advice on Project 17A to both GRSE and Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL). MDL in Mumbai will construct other four of Project 17A frigates in their shipyard. The keel for the first lead class ship of this class will be laid by late 2017 and the construction reportedly will start in 2018 and the first ship is likely to be delivered by 2023 for Sea Trials. Both shipyards will be using modular integrated construction to reduce construction time and improve productivity.

Doesnt seem that stealthy compared to visby or zumwalt class.

No point keeping the naval gun as well since india loves the brahmos so much lol plus increased RCS.

Anyway in march 2000, about 17 years back, singapore already had a stealth frigate design that is light years ahead of this design...

Not sure what the weapons package is like, but i noted india is in a rush lately.

With this much purchases, india will only find itself with 1 huge chunk of obsolete weapons at one go to phase out since nothing is staggered.

details of the armament plz

It doesnt looks neat, i want a flushed deck as these ships would be used for 30 years....please do it for the navy:(

The naval gun could be designed on a hydralic platform that goes up and down like an elevator...

On the front deck I can see around 32, so it should be total more than 64. But not sure.

Its stealthy, but not up to the international standards. Disappointed.

This is not the final design, it's just representation.

It was mentioned in GRSE Annual report 2015-16, it's not final design as claimed.

It has Thales I-Mast. Very unlikely to be on P17A

This design doesn't look like 6700 tonnes ship.
P17A won't have two naval guns.
