What's new

Pressured by Trump, it looks like China is going to do something about North Korea's nukes

You are seriously delusional if you think China and Russia are "small regional powers".

Russia less than 2 trillion GDP no longer USSR. No NATO-like alliance, no bases all around the world, heavily sanctioned. Influence among some despots and near-failed states. Surrounded by many states that are unfavorable to them

China, no NATO-like alliance, no bases around the world, not even considered a developed country, a military power far far behind the U.S. and even Russia. Influence among some despots and near-failed states. Surrounded by many states that are unfavorable to them

You guys on PDF may think all the bluster and chest thumping by Chinese and fellow Pakistanis makes them bigger than a regional power. To people who actually understand this , they are both only a regional power at present.

Yep a textbook delusional.

The problem is that in the end the US and China have very different views of their preferred outcome. While the US would love to see the collapse of North Korea, China views that scenario as a nightmare, regardless of the outcomes Indians wish to see.

HUH? Why would xi think Russia another small regional power like you, would care about NK?

Xi freaked out and had started doing what Trump ordered him to do. We see all these moves as proof.
They are two most powerful men in the world. President Xi Jinping of China is a highly experienced and astute diplomat and political operative while US President Donald Trump who is a businessman and only got involved in politics less than two years ago and has had a number of awkward meetings with foreign leaders. He seemed to avoid a handshake with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Trump has made no secret of his desire for a "better" trading relationship with China. Every US president except Jimmy Carter has come to Beijing and had their picture taken on China's Great Wall and I am sure Trump will do the same, he does seem to like walls.

Doing nothing is also an action

Don't really see why North Korea doing their own regional testing is bothersome to any third party it is their own country and test grounds

How can Peaceful North Korea do their own testing in peace , they have not attacked anyone in 40 years

China and North Korea should hold a peaceful dinner party to discuss a proper means to handle situation.

everyone understands the closeness,NK is in this situation because of that closeness,20-25 years down the line you should have know they where like brothers and one country,NK put all its eggs in the same basket.

More like asking for marriage.. and xi ready to be his B****. :welcome:

Think again.

Trump backs away from labeling China a currency manipulator

"They're not currency manipulators," Trump told the Journal about China. The statement is an about-face from Trump's election campaign promises to slap that label on Beijing on the first day of his administration as part of his plan to reduce Chinese imports into the United States.

Mobilising 120K troops isn't a child's play, it costs a lot of money, tells me two things either this never happened or China is going to do something about NK, it is not pressure tactics.

China might be moving heavy Missiles into North Korea to help protect it better
When you move the big guns in hot zones the Big guns show what they are capable of doing

It would be a nightmare for US ships if the North Korean subs changed position to come behind US ships

And you never know Puntin when his ships will come into mix

Buddy, as a Chinese, I can tell you the relation of China and DPRK is not what you have seen on the surface.

Yes, China and Russia are the only two regional countries that could assure a mutual destruction with US.
Forget to say that, the mighty NATO seemed not to prevent Russia which is poor and isolated and heavily sanctioned from taking back Crimea and eastern Ukraine.
The mighty NATO is too lazy to show its unparalleled muscle.

Regional power China was told by Trump, shape up and do as we ask. Your President sat quietly and obediently next Trump at dinner while we bombed Syria and he went 'Oh shoot this man trump will go into NK into our backyard if I don't shape up'.
It is a little shaming for you a US people to know so little about your nation.
Let me a Chinese tell you what happened between US and DPRK in the past.
DRPK started to develop its nukes and missiles 20 years ago.
During 20 years , the president of US . Clinton , W.bush , commanded the carriar group cruising near DPRK and threatened to bomb it many times and DPRK suvived each time. Guess why?

Given to the performance of US in the past 20 years, how could you have such a fantasy that China would do something just because US ask.

As for nuclear crisis this time, no mattar China disarming DPRK's nukes on its own hand or just being bystander or protecting DPRK , that is based on China's own interest instead of other nation's wish or command.

Dude, if there is no Kim Jong un who wishes to use nukes as a leverage of bargaining with great powers , i could not see any reason why US would allow DPRK exist.
You know even the Republic of Cuba , the US's enemy at backyard for 70 years, restore its relationship with US now.
The problem is not DPRK's existence but the nuke's.

Yes, China and US have a very deep mutual trade relation which make both dependent.
Altougth Trump accused China take advantage of US in trading, US doing bussiness with China is much better and more profitable than that with some allies of US, and Trump and other top offcials knew it.
China do want to a war with anyone ,let alone US the sole super power which is stronger in most of aspects.
But China deserve a respect for its interest suiting to its status and strength.

If US can have nukes, why can't North Korea? Some balance is needed
