PPP leader among 7 gunned down in Karachi | The Nation

A Pakistan People’s Party local leader was among seven gunned down in Karachi on Tuesday, officials said.

According to local police, unknown armed men riding a bike opened fire at Sajjad Balti in North Karachi area within the remits of Shara-e-Norr Jehan and managed to flee.

Balti sustained five bullets and died on the spot. His body was taken to a government-run medical facility for autopsy.

However, official said the PPP leader was targeted by a 9mm pistol, the arm which is being used in most of the targeted killings in the city.

Earlier, four people were reported killed in the city violence. Two tortured dead bodies, packed in gunny bags, were found near Crown Cinema, Mauripur Road.

Another body was found from Bihar Colony last night. Police said that the victims were kidnapped and later killed.

A man was shot dead in unidentified gunmen’s firing in New Town.

May the unfortunate dead rest in eternal peace. It's time for political workers to think about adopting peaceful political practices. There is a dire need to accommodate different perspectives while sticking to own. These practices will take us to destruction and rest assure there will be no winner.

Karachi is not stable and will continue to be like this. Something needs to be done to put this to an end. Perhaps, another Army operation....

Political war has been given the name of TTP terrorism. MQM, ANP, JUI & PPP fighting each other in the streets of Karachi & these political parties along with PML-N, PML-Q are the enemies of Pakistan.

It because of these terrorist political parties it gave US chance for saying TTP is in Karachi & to promote that new upcoming Medal of Honor game shows terrorists in Karachi, congratulation to those who have happily elected these criminal terrorists politicians to run Pakistan & even after all this political terrorism & crime these local people still say Jumhurat jet gai, LPC tum sab.

But beginning should be from Karachi, and Army should stay for atleast 5 months.

why would you want army op in karachi but not in north waziristan.......are terrorists hiding in karachi exploding suicide bombs all over pakistan or shooting little girls for going to school.....?

why not a poltiical solution like the one the imran khan proposes for fata ?

Due the unbelievible amout of weapons that militants are hiding in their homes, or for the future of those 10 to 15 years old kids who play gun shot games on every saturday nights, or due to those town that have become a non-visiting area. or due to locals those always wish for a peaceful Karachi as it was in past.

Lets not generalize like the media all over the world tries to do. Terrorism is only in: Tribal Areas, Quetta, and Karachi.

There is no such thing as "terrorism is only in..." Due to past apathy among the minority of the population in all of Pakistan, who are few, not the many, moderate Muslims, terrorism and terrorists are wherever there are today's Saudi Wahabbi Mullah driven and managed/taught Madrassas.

More and better public schools are the long term solution. In the shorter term "law and order" and martial law are likely the best course.

i refuse to believe karachi has more arms than fata......
