The picture links seems to be a little bit broken, you have to copy the picture address to another window and load it in order to see the picture.
Hope pakistan gets some boats like these soon!:pakistan::china:

what is the actual "Basic" purpose of this boat ???

what is the actual "Basic" purpose of this boat ???

The basic idea behind the Type-022 FAC is that it is designed for Littoral Combat, meaning near to sea shore sea area. It is replacing the hundreds of the gun boats and other fast attack crafts of the PLAN, just like the Larkana class we have. But these are much more equipped, sophisticated and deadly.

I believe PN should buy a few of them as the C-802/X series AshM make it into a deadly weapon and it has data linking capability, thus even if another bigger ship or surveillance aircraft or an AEW&C identifies a target, this one can sneak near and launch its missile. It can carry 8 AshM of the C-802/X designation and can be upgraded with any future missile too.

And it is said that it is a very very stealthy platform and when its in the harbor, its radar signature is increased so that ships can see it on their radars and a collision is averted.

It is true that the type 0222 FAC have to carry radar reflectors in order for other ships to detect them properly, as shown in the picture:
. I am also woundering if type 022 could replace the role of submarine in the PLAN or the PN because both type 022 and submarine uses their own stealthyness as their strength.:china::pakistan:

This FAC has a max speed of 27 knots, or 50 km/h, while the 022 has a max speed of 40 knots, or 75 km/h
Does any one else have stats on the Indian FAC's weapon/sensor system?:china:cheers:
