Pakistan's Nuclear Submarine Development | News and Discussions

Was the recently docked PLAN -Nuclear sub connected to our own development ?? why was the Chinese nuclear sub deployed in karachi??
It wasn't there for picking up or dropping CPEC shipments for sure
Nothing much, it was just an SSN.

"The third submarine was fitted with the MESMA air-independent propulsion system. The MESMA AIP successfully completed Pakistan Navy acceptance trials. In March 2007, Pakistan placed an order with DCNS for the retrofit of the MESMA AIP to the first two Khalid Class submarines, which were delivered in December 2011."

PAKISTAN – Khalid Class Submarine: On 21 June 2011, AMI received information that the second of three MESMA Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) modules for the Pakistani Navy (PN) will be shipped from DCNS in the near term. The MESMA AIP system will be installed in one of the two remaining Agosta 90B class submarines in Pakistani naval service during its next refit in 2012.
The likely candidate is the PNS Khalid (S137), which was delivered to the PN in 1999 and is entering its mid-life overhaul window in 2012, which would be the prime opportunity to install the 8.7 meter (28.4ft) plug. The third AIP system is scheduled for delivery in 2014 and would be inserted in the PNS Saad (S 138) when it begins its first major overhaul. The third unit of the class, PNS Hazma (S 139) was built with its AIP plug already inserted. PNS Hazma entered service in 2008.
The mid-life refit and plug insertion will take place at the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW) in Pakistan.
Additional information on this and other PN modernization efforts can be obtained by contacting Pat Bright at AMI International (Tel: + 1 360 373 2686 or E-mail: pbright@amiinter.com) or visiting the Pakistani Modernization Report at http://www.amiinter.com/wnpr/pakistan/modern.html.

If the first of two MESMA installations for the first two Khalid class submarines was delivered late 2011, then per 2012 the retrofit proces for the first of the pair that wasn't delivered with MESMA would start. Seeing as how the second MESMA set for retrofit would arrive in 2014. the retrofit of PNS Khalid would cover 2012-2014 and that of PNS Saad would cover 2014-2016. Which would explain why you see a docked submarine...

Looks like a sub (PNS Saad?) was in floating dock (the small one) from 6-2015 (you can actually see the hull cut in two pieces for insertion of the Mesma plug). Pics run out at 12-2016. Assuming she's still there.

The other floating dock (large one) by mystery object (presumed PNS Khalid) from 2-1012 through 2-2016

Sub in that large floating dock 9-201 and 10-2010, dock is empty 1-2010 and 2-2010.

If there is vessel there will be wine...

Can we deduce the obvious from Veritas?

Hi,

Exactly---.

Like the good old saying---if there is a hint of an ENEMY sub---then there definitely is a sub---.

And if there is one ENEMY sub---then there is definitely another sub somewhere---.

As for a nuc sub for pakistan---I got a strange news from someone about a reactor for a sub---.

Ah I like that post MastanKhan.
I don't suppose we will see the sub for a least a few more years?
