Pakistani experts have said the lives of millions of Indian Muslims are at stake amid rising Islamophobia and urged world powers to take notice to prevent another refugee influx from knocking their doors.

Speaking at a seminar on Thursday in the capital Islamabad, Pakistan's Information Minister Shibli Faraz said Islamophobia has become a tool at the hand of India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.

"[Indian Prime Minister Narendra] Modi's policies against the Muslims would have serious consequences as he encourages demonization of the Muslims on the basis of religion, and has empowered right-wing ethno-nationalists," he said.

"This authoritarian attitude not only puts the lives of millions of Indian Muslims at stake but predicts an imminent humanitarian crisis that may extend beyond borders," he added.

Faraz was referring India’s controversial law that grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Christians from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, but blocks naturalization for Muslims.

Muslim leaders believe the new law will be linked to a nationwide exercise where every citizen would be asked to prove Indian citizenship.

"Unsurprisingly, the only major religion that has been left out is Islam -- the second largest religion in India with over 200 million followers," Faraz added.

He noted that on the first anniversary of the annexation of Kashmir, Modi laid foundation of the Ram Temple on the site of the 16th century Babri Mosque, which has been at the heart of a decades-long dispute between Indian Muslims and Hindus.

In a 2019 ruling, the Indian Supreme Court handed over the mosque site to a trust to built the temple, giving Muslims a separate piece of land to build a mosque.

Last year, the Indian government scrapped the semi-autonomous status of Jammu and Kashmir and divided it into two federally-administered territories.

Political leaders and activists have since been arrested or placed under house arrest. Moreover, a partial communications blackout is still imposed in the Muslim-majority region.

"The IIOJK [Indian Occupied Kashmir] has been under a strict lockdown for more than one year now with communication links to the outer world cut off and demographic engineering carried out in the blood-stained valley via controversial domicile and property laws amid grave human rights violations, mass detentions and extra-judicial killings," Faraz said.

- Another refugee influx

Qibla Ayaz, chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology of Pakistan, criticized the silence of world powers over the current situation in India.
He warned of another refugee influx if the international community did not act now.

"It is very unfortunate that Modi's racist and fascist ideology has given rise to populism and Islamophobia in India," Ayaz said.

Shabina Ayyaz, an Islamabad-based political analyst, criticized the role of Indian media in spreading propaganda against Muslims.

"The current situation is very alarming as Indian media plays a negative role and promotes Islamophobia in the country," she said.

During the recent outbreak of COVID-19 across the world, every country was busy in dealing with the virus while Indian hospitals displayed banners saying: "Muslims are not allowed", she claimed.

Several other analysts and former diplomats spoke at the event and urged the international community to act against the growing Islamophobia in western countries and India.

Attacks on Muslims have been on the rise across India since Modi came to power in 2014 and went on to win a second term.

Indian Muslims, UNFORTUNATELY, are stuck in India forever with ever worsening conditions for them! To be honest, their is no way out. Their misery won't end and I see the following problems:
  • Indian Muslims are distributed in India in such a way that they are not concentrated in any Indian state where they can make up a decisive majority. Even if they double in numbers, they will always be out numbered by Hindus. If it happens, Hindutva gang knows that it will be another Kashmir so they won't let it happen (e.g., NRC, CAA).
  • Indian Muslims don't have any singular united political voice and they lack the political leadership (period).
  • (Trigger warning for this pointer) It is my personal opinion though! I believe in order to have a fight back mentality for one's rights, you need to have a certain historical background/motivation (don't take it to the race guys). For instance, a good example is of Bengali Muslims. Just look at their history when they saw their rights/freedom denied, they never back-off from fighting (e.g., 1905, 1947, 1971, etc). Indian Muslim sections simply lack such fighting back spirit.
  • Finally, Indian Muslims have essentially accepted their fate, at least for now. They know it that any sort of fight back will end up in more mess for them. Also, over the time, they have become immensely ghettoized and systematically cornered where they themselves just can't break the cycle of their misery!

Muslim population in India is 198,762,944, which is third highest in the world.

Muslims are major minority group comprising 14.2 % of total Indian population.

Forced displacement of Indian Muslims from India will prove to be catastrophe.

It will cause major political and sectarian unrest, freedom struggle and economic and social chaos.

The country will be shutdown for all social and economic activities.

Indians must stop the insane actions of Hindutva regime otherwise be prepared for total destruction.

During the period of such catastrophe, Pakistan should provide shelter to woman, children and old men only.

Able men should be asked to return back and fight for their independent land and freedom.

nobody is going to pakistan .

Every Muslim is welcomed in Pakistan, remember it was made as the homeland for the Muslims of the entire Sub Continent and the neighboring regions.

wrong, it was made for those who wanted a separate homeland free from hindu extremism, not for traitors who thought that Jinnah was wrong and didn't accept Two Nation Theory and stayed in their bharat mata.

I want to see Indian Hindus to learn from next door people, how they respect other religion and respect minorities etc. when will these stupids from India learn it and do it like them?
they are ideal society.

A bit rich coming from a nation that -

Largest aide receiver in the world
Largest number of starving and begging in the world - more than the whole of Africa.

Dont start throwing stones at your neighbor when you live in a glass house.

Its no surprise that one can envisage a mass migration not seen in our lifetime - coming in a nation where you are liable to get lynched eating a beefburger - a nation where minorities are battered on a regular basis.

Its not a good time to be a Muslim living in India especially when Modi is looking for an excuse and reason for people to take the eye off the ball - something to distract from todays reality where over 38,000 sq km land has been taken by China and COVID completely out of control - what better but to blame the Muslims to distract from the facts of reality which is he is him and his party are incompetent.

India is actually the biggest recipient of Aid in the world.

This is what Akhand Bharat looks like. Use Aid money from other countries to buy weapons, while population does not even have basic facilities such as toilets, food, and clean water.

Living in India would be a fate I would not wish on my worst enemy.

No wonder they are the majority of H1B visa applicants and awardees.

Use Aid money from other countries to buy weapons

Yeah, that is ridiculous ! People in India dying of hunger and remaining blind just because they don't have money, while the successive governments have turned India into the second largest importer of armaments in the world.

Hindus are trying to speak for you brothers. Please clarify from an Indian Muslim persepective.

@jamahir @xeuss @Mad Scientist 2.0

Firstly I will quote the signature of a sensible Indian Muslim member @The_Showstopper :
Sabhi ka khoon hai Shamil is Mulk ki Mitti me, Kisi Chaiwale ya Tadipar ke Baap ka Hindustan Thodi hai...!
That is my sentiment too. "Chaiwala" you know and "Tadipar" is Amit Shah.

Secondly, I dearly desire for Indian Muslims to do two things :

1. Become influential in the socio-economic sphere here. Look at the Indian Parsis. A small bunch but large in influence. There should be many more Wipro-like and Hamdard-like institutions from among the Muslims. It is promising that a young Muslim man, Moin, is the co-founder of a space launch vehicle company in India. The company is Agnikul.

2. Put collective civil society support behind the progressive political movements in India. Movements like Aam Aadmi Party, Swaraj Abhiyan, the socialists and some regional parties. Most Muslims in India have been voting for the Congress for decades. This should change. Actually if the Congress has to remain relevant it should join an umbrella movement ( like the PLO ) including the aforementioned groups.

Movements like Aam Aadmi Party,

Why is there so much hate against Arvind Karjiwal and AAP in India? It seems a logical choice to make your country better.

I have seen nothing but good from this man, and I say this as a Pakistani. He reminds me of Imran Khan (purely social justice perspective, and not religious obviously.) Seems like a genuine good soul.
