Beyond the agony and despair amid the rubble in Turkey and Syria, hope flickers in one way or another: From the children and elderly people being rescued to the aid that has been pouring in from all around the world. One Good Samaritan, in particular, caught the attention of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday.

In a tweet, Sharif shared how he was 'deeply moved' by a Pakistani who walked into the Turkish embassy in the US — and donated $30 million (Dh110.19 million) for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.

This individual, however, refused to be identified.

"These are such glorious acts of philanthropy that enable humanity to triumph over the seemingly insurmountable odds," the prime minister added in the tweet.

Rescuers pulled children from the rubble of the Turkey-Syria earthquake on Saturday, but hopes were fading that many more survivors would be found.

The death toll crossed 24,000 as a winter freeze compounded the suffering of millions of people, many in desperate need of aid.

At least 870,000 people urgently needed food in the two countries after the quake, which has made up to 5.3 million people homeless in Syria alone, the UN warned.

A noble act indeed, but it is interesting to see inmates claiming the success of those who have escaped said prison, and found success elsewhere by their own hard work and the fertile environment offered by their new hosts, as their own while dreaming of escape themselves.

The next headline:

Pakistani buys the Jacksonville Jaguars team.

:D

Great gesture . At least he’ll know he’s charity moneys not been stolen as is the case with Pakistan .

No wonder Turkey told the little crook to keep out of Turkey .

This is the power of expats...if wisely channelized, they help to pay Pak debt.....and only Imran Khan...a bitter reality for those who are against him.

The bitter reality is that Pakistan's debt continued to explode ever higher during IK's period in office. Making such claims as above is easy, but actually proving them remains a problem.

Yes, when you get the debt to pay the debt. When people ask for everything for free. Sense of hardship evaporated when TV channel shows the corrupt faces who made wealth without any effort. When too many bones were spared by the elite to feed their foot soldiers and the poor confined in a vicious circle of their basic needs .... well...........waiting for messiah

Then how can it be claimed that we have a messiah in waiting again?

Lol. There is no doubt that's what went through SS's mind; I'm sure his digestive system also said the same.

75% of the loans taken during PTI time went to servicing old debt from PPP/N-League.

That is true for just about every government term, the very definition of snowballing debt due to a failed economy. And it is likely to continue, messiah or no messiah.

May Allah reward him for his generosity

The IRS will do that on His behalf with some nice tax deductions.

Most Pakistanis think expats don’t deserve a say - I agree with them - expats who no longer have to return to Pakistan should give Pakistan the middle finger and go through selective amnesia. Why give a shit about people who while desperately trying to escape still make snark comments against expats?

Even if IK comes back (by a miracle), it’ll take atleast 5 years to just course correct.

I’d say let the PDM completely run the economy to ground, an economic armageddon. And then start from 0.

Overseas Pakistanis better send only the bare minimum required and avoid investing.

Commendable act and sign of hope that people do not forget, especially muslim nations because when humanitarian efforts occurs Turks are always among first ones, so in time when they need need help, it is most natural thing to return as much as possible even if you are not in great position to do so.
I whish this will not be matter of political drifs and discussion.

I love how you talk about middle finger, selective amnesia, have double American flags yet continue to come to PDF, complain about what's happening in Pakistan

That in itself answers your question- we can never forget and stop caring for our ancestral land no matter what, people who moved in the 1950s whether in the US or UK, still care cause it's the most natural of Acts
