Pakistan threatens to withdraw troops from Pak-Afghan border

It is different. The operations that have already been started would continue irrespective of US funding. Like in Kurram agency or Mohmand agency. The extra troops present on border would be send to barracks to cut down the expenses. It won't be a complete withdrawal.

The net result of the troops moving away would be increased presence of foreign fighters there, right?
So the army is giving up on its vaunted sovereignity because it is not getting paid by a third party. That fits the definition of a paid mercenary pretty closely.

what a stupid retarded comment, dude, you need to grow up
pakistan army gave up fighting a long time ago, america pressurised it to go to NW, pak army didnt

the cut down of aids, army withdrawal, taliban negotiations, americans ranting every day abt pakistan, its all part of the ending process, now if you have your daddy working with raw in afghanistan, let your daddy come home before he is hunted by some talibns

My comment? That is what your Army spokesman is saying.....perhaps you should ask him to grow up and give him a mouthful of your limited vocabulary since that is all you seem to be doing around here.

Anyways your poor grammar is giving me a headache, so perhaps you should go back to school now and learn some more of it; till then you are ignored.

Pakistan should withdraw its troops from the Border and Tribal Areas talk to The Tribes and take on America

Pakistan should not make is policies dependent on usa funds. It is now very difficult for Pakistan to withdraw all of its forces from Afghan border unless it decides to give the border areas to terrorists. terrorists will start controlling the borders then and will only increase insecurity in mainland. There seems to be little chance any such withdrawal will take place.

Now that the Tribal have been mauled by the Pakistani Army as also by the US, they will be in no mood to forgive and forget, at least the militant ones.

Therefore, a total withdrawal from the Afghan border may not be wise.

The complete western border is an area of total chaos and all are behaving as if they are sovereign. Naturally, the Pakistan Govt or their Army will not be ready to accept the same.

Pakistan and america can never be friends our interests don't match

It will definitely be subtle. As attitudes of the militants change from being Pakistan centric to more American centric, we will be able to relax a little. Now that the Americans have broken ties, there really is no cause for us stand by them.

Interesting, this is happening when only 1/3rd of the $2 Billion aids have been suspended. What happens when they cut the rest of the 2/3rd as well?

May be. As I said operation would continue and some troops would be present so it won't be a free run for Taliban in FATA as they enjoy in Afghanistan.

So the army is giving up on its vaunted sovereignity because it is not getting paid by a third party.

Army isn't giving up the sovereignty. Hint: Kurram agency operation. Even this operation wasn't demanded by that "third" party. It was demanding something else. :)

That fits the definition of a paid mercenary pretty closely.

May be for you. TTP and Bharati members do have something in common. ;)

It would show that they are running away from Afghanistan like Soviets. :)

Pakistan should talk to Taliban and with our Tribes because America is running away and we will have to deal with the Taliban later or sooner so we should start now

We attack Kabul? :D

Nothing really, as much as there is a intent among the Americans to hate on Pakistanis and somehow cause harm to us, Pakistanis will just be content in US leaving us alone. For the most part the American way of life is not an issue for Pakistanis and thus its not an ideological issue for us not being able to accept them (they on the other hand sometimes behave that Pakistan should not exist at all). Our position is more defensive, in a world where we feel American is making hostile moves to destroy us, we just want to survive.

They cut off this aid with the intent that it will bring the nation to its knees. Its a very foul intent on the part of the Americans at least previously they had an issue with our nuclear weapons, now its simply an issue with who we are. When Pakistan pulls through, these things won't be forgotten.

No no, we have no problem, you have a problem, then pay for it. These same people were around Pakistan since forever and they didn't attack us until 2006. We just have to show them a clear route to that nice juicy steak of American troops in Afghanistan and they would go after them.

You mean they didnt attack you till the time you were letting them a free run of your territory in NWFP. by the way, count your casualties and then the NATO casualties in last 3-4 years and you will know who these people consider a jucier steak..

Funny to kill a mouse you light up your house on fire. Just to protest in regarding the aid money you give a clear way to all the terrorists to come in wow

We stood in harms way protecting the Americans, now we'll point the way and step aside :)

They did not attack Pakistan in the earlier days because they were allowed freehand in the administration of their lives.

It is only after the WOT, under the guidance of the US that Pakistan tries to exercise its writ on these people. It also gave Pakistan the chance to establish their writ rather than the weak control.

The whole thing merely backfired since these people felt that were being 'suffocated' and prevented their free wheeling ways.

I would say that if these people are allowed to go freewheeling into Afghanistan, then there could be danger to Pakistan also. They are now in a very foul mood and trusts none and not even Pakistan.

Wild and freewheeling that they are, their sub-nationalism can be wakened in a negative way.

Catch 22.
