Pakistan strikes key deal with Russia to buy Gas and Wheat

from Russia to Pakistan gas pipeline should be $10 billion which is why I think no one will build it. I won't discuss the mess of running a pipeline through Afghanistan.

the current prices are not sustainable unless you think this is the new norm. Pakistan is not foolish to sign a long term deal based on today's prizes

Hi,

The pipeline is not going to be built from Russia. It already exists till Uzbekistan (CAC pipeline 4). Please look at the maps I have shared in earlier posts.

Pakistan buys gas (Lng) at Brent indexed price (three months average). The Brent price changes but the slope doesn't, making the deal fair and profitable for all involved for the course of the agreement term.

good luck negotiating with the Russians

Any idea, what Pakistan is exports to EU, apart from fruit and apparel?
We do not have any considerable industrial products, or do we which is specific to EU?

One I can think of is footballs or soccer balls called in the US. Suprised 75% of the world's soccer balls are made in Pakistan. Another thing is Pink Himalayan salt. Which majority if not all comes from Pakistan.

Pakistan really needs to do a better job of not all exporting products but marketing as well

Its a good step. Russian exports will be available at a discount. India had a long tradition of Rupee Rouble trade. Pak should also have a PKR- RUB trade regime.

Regards

Europe and USA will not like it. Don't think this will materialize. Talk is cheap......

Excellent move , Russian Gas and Oligarchs are welcomed in Pakistan

Pakistan in talks with Russia for LNG imports

ISLAMABAD:
As Russia develops the Yamal LNG project facility -- Islamabad and Moscow are in talks to a multi-billion dollar government-to-government import deal. The Yamal LNG Project includes the development of the giant South Tambey (Tambeyskoye) gas field that is located near Sabetta in the Yamal peninsula in Russia. The Russian government has declared the project to be of national interest at a cost of around $27 billion.

This is a new addition to the energy cooperation between Pakistan and Russia as two countries are already working on different projects including the Pakistan Gas Stream, a gas pipeline from Kazakhstan and an offshore gas pipeline. Sources said the Pakistani government was interested to sign a government-to-government deal with Russia to import LNG to meet its growing gas demand.

They added that Russia was developing the Yamal Project, which would be one of the largest LNG facilities in the world. Russia is also meeting the demand of Europe by exporting gas through a pipeline despite the opposition of the US. The sources said Pakistan LNG Limited was in talks with Russian firms Gazprom and Novatek to import the gas. At present, Pakistan has a space on the second LNG terminal owned by Pakistan Gasport Consortium Limited (PGPC) to import the product despite a fresh deal of imports from Qatar.
At present, Qatar controls the Pakistani market in terms of LNG import.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia had dominated the Pakistani oil market. However, Qatar had started supplying LNG to Pakistan. This affected the oil market on the supply of fuel to power plants as they had started using LNG to produce electricity. The sources said Pakistan was currently importing LNG from Qatar and wanted to apply this as a benchmark price for other countries including Russia. They said the benchmark price set by Pakistan might cause hurdles in implementing the LNG deal with Russia. Moreover, the prices of LNG had globally witnessed a sharp increase.

Secondly, the Russia is too far away and Pakistan might face higher freight charges in comparison with LNG cargoes coming from Qatar. However, Russia might have the option to follow LNG cargo swap with other companies operating close to Pakistan that could result in cutting the freight charges.
Pakistan meets around 24% of its gas demand through LNG imports. Initially, the PML-N government had planned to utilise LNG in industrial, power and commercial sectors.

We should also provide Russian Oligarchs safe havens for their money and then grab it under some pretext like the Europeans, perhaps make Karachi the world centre for money laundering like London and Geneva.

First we need to be a sovereign nation.

Bajwa group along with his pet traitor dynastic dogs will declare war on Russian investments as soon as the US embassy whistles.

Pakistan strikes key deal with Russia to buy Gas and wheat

– RT reports https://on.rt.com/bt6s

The reported agreement comes as Western countries cut ties with Moscow

So much for Sanctions on Russia?

Pakistan has signed a major agreement with Russia on the import of natural gas and wheat, media outlets reported this week, citing Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Khan reportedly said that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin had “great discussions” during his visit to Moscow last week, where the leaders signed a bilateral agreement. He noted that Pakistan plans to import some two million tons of wheat from Russia in the near future.

The two leaders reportedly also discussed the long-delayed Pakistan Stream gas pipeline, which is to be built in collaboration with Russian companies.

Both countries are eager to launch the project at the earliest,” according to Pakistan’s Energy Ministry. The 1,100km (683-mile) pipeline connecting Russia and Pakistan was agreed in 2015. It is to be financed by both Moscow and Islamabad, and to be constructed by Russian contractors
.

Reports of the deal come as most Western countries are rapidly distancing themselves from Russia and imposing heavy economic sanctions on the country in response to its ongoing military operation in Ukraine.
