One of the largest military exercises by the Indian Army in recent years has evoked sharp concern in the neighbourhood, with Pakistan raising questions on the scale and scope of the war game that would practice quick maneuvers by strike formations in the desert region.

While India had shared details of the ‘Winter Exercise’ that has commenced inRajasthan this month as part of a mutually agreed protocol, sources told ET that Pakistan requested for additional details of the war game, with concerns emerging on the ‘intent’ of the wargame.

The Winter Exercise is the biggest wargame being conducted by the Army since the BJP government has come into power and involves over 35,000 soldiers, several hundred tanks and armoured vehicles and heavy artillery support.

The exercise is being undertaken by the Bhopal-based 21 Strike Corps, which has already placed a Brigade level force into the area with more elements being inducted this month before the culmination stage from December 5-10. A ‘defensive corps’, which shall function as the holding formation for the strike corps exercise will shortly be moved into place from Jodhpur.

“We have informed them (Pakistan) about the exercise according to the procedure. It is as per the routine training and if there are concerns, they will be dealt with through the regular channels as well,” a senior Defence Ministry functionary told ET.

What could be reason of concerns? It's just 35000 people.

Got to love the Indian media. Both sides have so much Sensor Intelligence and Human Intelligence that nothing is hidden. Someone will tell me that the Chinese satellites or other Pak sensors or Human intel didn't give them the number of tanks and people and strike corps involved???? If the answer is yes, you are smoking or drinking stuff you shouldn't be, unless you are with someone who can supervise your health if you get royally intoxicated!!!!

When either side rolls out 20 tanks, their numbers, soldiers involved and all, are sent to the other side in almost RT, that is if they didn't already detect it through own / leased sensors!! This is just a diplomatic drama if the Pakistanis really asked such question :enjoy:

It will just take an hour to execute a false-flag and turn this Exercise into war.

An hour is too long......the PAF has achieved a defensive posture in three minutes across the entire Pakistan, during peacetime!! A retaliatory strike (through multiple means) is estimated to be around 18 minutes!!

Got to love it when ignorant amateur arm-chair Field Marshals decide they know every aspect of war (or in this case ISR and order dissemination). Well at the very least, I must say it's amusing to read the fanciful versions of war some artists of imagination manage to sketch up. It's another, almost entirely trivial matter that none of these 'expert' analysis conform to anything in the domain of reality.

But carry on. I give them 15/10 for entertainment value.

Did you have ANY facts to counter my post??? Or you just wanted to write garbage called a post above, to show me something like a 12 year old child MUST talks back with puberty and hormones running through his system, without any sense or logic.

Next time, respond to my post if you have facts to counter it. For emotional outburst or to utter crap, go hug your mama and complain about how real my post was and how it hurt your little heart!!

Pakistan has been informed as per pact about this winter exercise. what else they wish to know why this exercise is being done ?
