Ok i tried looking for a forum about this topic but couldn't find one so i am creating my own.
If there is a forum, please link it to me
Is Pakistan developing or acquiring a missile defense program. Recently saw a video on Israeli Iron Dome and wanted to know if Pakistan is developing something similar or something at all. so i looked at all the missile defenses and found out that other countries like India has them but Pakistan doesn't have a missile defense system. is pakistan ever going to develop one? or is it going to get them off of china or something?

we even don't have proper air defence let alone missile defence sir .today best missile defence we have this

The reason you didn't find anything is because there is nothing to talk about.

We are eons away from a credible missile defense of any type.

This is a much neglected area of Pakistan defense we developed Anza in 80s but no development after that. There were reumers about Hamas system is being developed but no details available.

not that worried about airdefence because we have plans of aquiing fighters and strenghten air defence. But we arent even planning on a missle defence. hopefully CPEC boosts our economy and we get more military funding

ABM systems don't really save you from ballistic missiles, if you're lucky you might intercept one ballistic missile but multiple ballistic missiles are likely to be launched at a target.

So this is not an area Pakistan needs to invest in, especially since we have a small budget. We should instead just focus on our ballistic missiles for now.

Bro,

Reality is changing now.

Modern ABM systems are capable of tracking and intercepting multiple targets simultaneously. For example: American (MEADS) ABM prototype destroyed two targets simultaneously in a test in 2013: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-defense-meads-idUSBRE9A512G20131106

American ABM systems have advanced even further and reached the point of intercepting ICBM-class targets.

The pace of progress in countermeasures against Ballistic missiles is such that they will be almost obsolete at some point the future.

Yeah. Don't believe a single thing anyone says about Missile defenses. They are nowhere near as effective as claimed. The Americans claimed in 1991, that the Patriot was 96% effective; turns out it was failed to intercept any. Ditto 2003.

The THAAD has never shot down a missile in a realistic full up test. Nor has the Arrow. And the claimed pK's are laughable. We have not bothered with them, since we know they are crock.

They won't ever be obselete. Nuclear warheads can and will develop countermeasures. Russia has already made some.

Bro,

You think ABM systems will not catch up to those countermeasures?

Say hello to MOKV concept for ABM:

---

Just a year back, GMD was capable of intercepting an ICBM-class threat [only in] theory. Relevant test occurred in this year and results are promising.

GMD not only intercepted an ICBM-class threat but also defeated its countermeasures in the same test but few are aware of the latter aspect of it. Details are understandably scarce in regards to how GMD defeated such countermeasures.

Arms race is a non-stop and relentless theme. Weapons that have value in our times, are likely to be obsolete at some point in the future.

Pakistan needs to invest heavily in its Industrial programs and the R&D aspect of education in order to prepare a human capital that is capable of understanding emerging threats or risk loosing its MAD with India and others.

This mentality will prove to be a fatal mistake one day. We are not living in 1990s and American ABM systems have become far more capable in subsequent years.

You need to read and learn: http://nationalinterest.org/blog/th...fear-the-patriot-missile-defense-system-19833

The PAC systems that were deployed in 1990 were primitive designs in regards to intercepting ballistic missiles. While they failed to intercept scores of ballistic missiles - they did intercept a few (7 in total) - the [experience] provided valuable insight for course-correction in regards to intercepting ballistic missiles in the future.

Technical information here: https://missilethreat.csis.org/system/patriot/

The existing PAC-3 systems have 100% target intercept record in the battlefield (including ballistic missiles).

The THAAD has never shot down a missile in a realistic full up test. Nor has the Arrow. And the claimed pK's are laughable. We have not bothered with them, since we know they are crock.
So what kind of tests would be realistic in your eyes?

US is much ahead of Pakistan in developing ballistic missiles (of all sorts) and use them for target-practice. They have released footage of intercepts made by THAAD in live-fire conditions.

Here is an example of THAAD intercepting an IRBM-class target in live-fire conditions:

pakistan is already in advance stages of discussion with china for the accusation of HQ-9 hopefully they will able to get the same version of it, which chines military is using because it has a range of 200 km while the export version has just 125kms

Shooting down a SAM going up at Mach 3; max is a big differ et from an RV reentering at upto Mach 20.

Firstly Re the claimed 100% is pure unadlterated bullshit. Nothing ever has a 100% kill rate, and oif someone claims they do, they are lying.

Secondly, re rest of your links. Big fucking deal. So they can hit an uncomining warhead. Repeat. wBig fucking deal. People could do that in the late fifties. Even in the second World War, they had plans to use RADAR guiuded guns firing enmass to intercept V2. Thats irrelevant. No one is throwing 40's era Scud, or fifties era R-7 missiles at you. Modern (by which I mean any BM designed since the 1960's) have penetration aids, such a jammers, chaff, balloons decoys. They also have high altitude maximum trajectory and very high (mach 8) terminal velocity, as opposed to the sub-sonic terminal velocity of the Scuds. Not to mention MIRV's and maneovering warheads. There is a reason everyone gave up on missile defences in the early 70's; after nearly 25 years of work and getting technically more advanced than anything now; its just not feasible. (The US Safeguard System; google it, was more advanced the the much vanted GMD, and was decommmssioned since all it could do was protect a small area).

The other MOKV that you linked to actually made me cry with laughter. Its a rehase of Brilliant Pebbles, the only SDI project that seemed feasbily; except Brilliant Pebbles was supposed to be orbiting interceptors, while this is ground based; in othger words the compolexity of Brillinant Pebbles, with the disadvantages of Ground Based systems. Brilliant Pebbles also was ulimatkey deemed unworkable.

In short, don't be seduced by marketing departments, or the IDF propaganda arm (for @DavidSling).
