Pakistan holds the key to peace in post-US Afghanistan

So you agree that Pak has just been used as a tool by America to fight Americas war from the past 10 years and achieved nothing and lost lives and money only ????

Now i'll have to agree to- that- Indian in Afghanistan is going to be used as a tool now- You guys want to lost lives and money only be our guest-

why you need source for this?- do you ask amrika for any source for its rants against Pakistan?- it seems like amrikas rants instantly becomes you rhetoric-

Comon , you make certain claim and you cannot back it up with some docs ? Then who is going to believe that claim in support of your any argument.

On the contrary there are sources which reveal the figues of killed personnel which is no where close to your claimed figures.

And fyi i dont believe in any first hand claims of any american as well.

Are there any intentions for India to have an air base in Afgan? To be a :police:

This may come across as rude, but why do we have to justify anything to you Indians?
You dont mind bringing up those figures in argument with indian, but you mind it if asked to validate it. Yeah i get your mahboori.

TBH- a country at war and its soldiers falling- who is in the better position to list causalities?-

thats some thing new- you must be from a rare and extinct breed-

imaginations has no limitations- an airbase in foreign land is not simple as having an embassy-

I know you are in better position, and that is why i am asking you and not any american. So go ahead and post you source of information and your figures. Thats what i have been asking initially, but somehow guys here are reluctant to do so.

"China is clear-headed and down-to-earth about its priorities and doesn’t want to follow the footsteps of Great Britain, USSR or USA. "
China does not have to be keen on involving itself in Afghanistan at all. It is not that the Chinese are not interested in Afghanistan. The fact is that China has Pakistan working for it in Afghanistan, Pakistan will ensure that Chinese interests are taken care of. The Chinese don't have to move a finger, an occasional nod or two will do. India's case is different. If we are not proactive in Afghanistan now, we stand to lose whatever gains were painstakingly made over the last decade plus. The contention of the article is not sound, if we do not involve ourselves now, we will be totally removed from the Afghan scene. We do not have the luxury that China enjoys. We have to work in close coordination with the other stake holders, Iran and Russia.

"India, on the other hand, has been knocking at the American door for the past 6 years for some little role on the military front in Kabul, but US kept saying ‘Nyet’. "
US did not permit India a greater role in Afghanistan simply due to Pakistani objections. Pakistan was a partner of the US in its WOT. It is not unusual for countries to heed to the sensitivities of their partners and allies. Now that the US/NATO are winding up business in Afghanistan, American objections have become irrelevant.

"Will history be any different this time? Why don’t we trust diplomacy? We too claim to have a robust economic diplomacy. The best course would have been to leave Pakistan to vainly try to manipulate the fiercely independent Afghans, and ultimately collapse from sheer exhaustion - sooner rather than later? "

Trust diplomacy? How? When all the mining contracts go to China and Indian mining companies return empty handed? When Mullah Omar is triumphantly escorted back to Kabul by the Pakistani Army and reinstalled? When all Afghan leaders friendly towards India are publicly executed and hung from street lights? Of course we would have left Afghanistan by then. What diplomacy is the author talking about? What does he think we were doing till now?
And how does a Taliban govt in Kabul supported by Pakistan with blessings form China 'ultimately collapse from sheer exhaustion?'
It needed a full fledged attack by one super power and its allies with the support of the NA to kick Mullah Omar out of Afghanistan into Pakistan, if I remember correctly.

On the whole a poorly written article. I wish Mr Bhadrakumar had given this talk somewhere with me attending so that I could reply to his points. His logic is so unsound, it amazes me.

but why India is doing all this for..... It is for stratagic options not because Indian pockets are overflowing with money.
