ISLAMABAD - Pakistan may seek severing of ties between Mullah Omar-led Afghan Taliban and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and urge the United States to eliminate TTP sanctuaries across the border in Afghan provinces of Kunar and Nuristan, as it plays the role of facilitator for a peace dialogue between the two sides of the Afghan conflict. The Obama administration is eyeing 2014 for the withdrawal of US forces from the war-torn Afghanistan, but it also realises that without any understanding or a peace deal with the Taliban, it is a daunting task. Also, Washington sees the role of key facilitator by Pakistan as vital for the success of any peace dialogue with the Taliban insurgents. Currently, the proposed peace talks between the US and the Taliban and between Kabul and the Taliban are stalemated because of Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s opposition to the title of “Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan” and the “flag” that the Taliban used for their political office in Doha, Qatar, which was opened in June this year. The Taliban office was shut down in July because of that row and since then, the US has been trying to establish contacts with the Taliban for peace dialogue and it is of strong desire that Pakistan uses its “good offices” for the purpose. Diplomatic sources privy to the renewed efforts for the start of peace talks between the US and Taliban said Pakistan could play its role for the commencement of US-Taliban peace talks for the sake of peace and stability in the neighbouring state of Afghanistan. “Pakistan could reach out to the Afghan Taliban seeking their willingness to re-engage with the US and Afghan authorities as part of its commitment to peace and stability in Afghanistan,” said a source seeking anonymity. However, he said Pakistan would also like to see the US and the Taliban trying to address Islamabad’s concerns as well. “Pakistani authorities could ask for severing of links between the Afghan Taliban and TTP, which is involved in gory acts of terror on Pakistani soil and that could weaken the capacity of TTP to carry out assaults in different parts of the country, including the border regions,” he said. Moreover, he said Pakistan could also ask the US to eliminate the hideouts of TTP terrorists in Kunar and Nuristan provinces of Afghanistan. Another source said since the Doha peace process had been scuttled due to row over the Taliban office, Pakistan could help the US in the shifting of talks’ venue to some other Islamic country, such as Saudi Arabia or Turkey. He said the visit of Afghan President Hamid Karzai later this month to Islamabad was crucial and Pakistani authorities would discuss with the Afghan leader the Afghanistan reconciliation process, new possible venue for peace talks with the Taliban and all other related issues in detail. “For the success of Afghanistan reconciliation process it is vital that all Afghan groups are willing to talk to each other. Equally important are the talks between the US and the Taliban and Pakistan would like this whole process of reconciliation moving towards success,” he said. - See more at: Pakistan eyes US crackdown on TTP sanctuaries in Afghanistan | Pakistan Today | Latest news | Breaking news | Pakistan News | World news | Business | Sport and Multimedia

So it means if this piece of report is true than pakistan officially acknowledges the ties between talibans across durand line
death to conspiracy mongerers than???????

More like hoping.

Indians economy is tanking, lets hope they run out of money and TTP family will be broke.

Then they will be off back to Afghanistan to get real jobs and live like normal human beings.

wish we live to see the day when these rabies infected talibani and extremist vampires are sandwiched between Pakistan army and american army , hope to see soon these murderers like minced meat

Well these kharjees will always kill muslims, no matter what... even though their commander claimed that they will fight against india if a war happens but i am sure even if that is true then they will go in india and kill the muslims only :D...

im afraid we won't see that day --- NATO forces don't even hold 30% of afghanistan's terriority!
and terrorism in pakistan can't be stopped unless there is peace in afghanistan --- which is again highly unlikely!

and frankly telling you we too are unable to counter these people --- 15,000 soldiers have been lost till now ---- a shocking number!

Nation is confused over the enemy , the enemy is smartly busy distraction the nation , creating friction between army , politicians , govts not missing any opportunity any where than on an optimistic note the results are not so bad howver i also dont think we will ever see but nothing wrong in wishing & hoping the best.

On a positive note i have noticed in recent developments for eg today lots of treasure trove found in a house in lahore and few pakistanis were caught , their is a shift and these people are mentioning a forgotten name which i think is Spot on policy .. so lets see whats in box for us

Now, more than ever, it is of importance that we recognize these insurgents for what they are and realize that they are not loyal to anyone, not even their own religion. In order to bring peace and stability in the region eliminating terrorist sanctuaries in both Afghanistan and Pakistan is essential. The reconciliation process is in place but those who are bent on attacking innocent people and promoting violence should be well aware of how they will be dealt with on the Afghan soil, whether by us or by the ANSF. We are aware of Pakistan’s concern post 2014, that if there is further instability in Afghanistan, it would increase insurgency in the region, and we have therefore stepped into the new era of increased cooperation and coordination with the quick resumption of the strategic dialogue between our countries, as Secretary Kerry has pointed out, “I’m pleased to announce that today very quickly we were able to agree to a resumption of the Strategic Dialogue in order to foster a deeper, broader, and more comprehensive partnership between our countries. And this revitalized dialogue will address in a realistic fashion all of the many key issues between us, from border management to counter-terrorism to promoting U.S. private investment and to Pakistan’s own journey to economic revitalization.”

We have to eliminate the TTP ourselves. There is no short cut to this, nor do the Americans have any interest in doing this for us. The Americans only goal is to ensure that another terrorist attack does not occur on their soil from Afghanistan, Pakistan or Iraq. They do not care if this insurgency destroys Pakistan or whether Pakistan can handle it or not. Their only concern is the protection and defence of American citizens.

Now if Pakistan was this eager to protect and defend its citizens rather than letting them be framed on false charges of terrorism or being murdered by the terrorists then we would have been ruling the world.

In either case the TTP needs to be vanquished and no one is going to do the job for us. We must ravage the terrorists of the Taliban and utterly crush them. In this regard we should be launching operations left and right to dislodge them from their strongholds in FATA, Hangu, Bannu, Peshawar and Dera Ismail Khan. We need to eliminate top commanders of the Taliban like Hakimullah Mehsud with our own hands. The US targets the Haqqanis, Hekmatyar's and Bahawal Khan militants who are a target for us too but not an imminent one.

Once we defeat the TTP or Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan we can fight and defeat the LET and other terrorist groups too. But first we need to put our interests forward, something we have been failing to do for the past 60+ years.

and how many soldiers actually died during operations..
most death are hit and run..
had the pakistani govt been serie and done swat style militery operations the live lost would have been less.
we need operation and then good governance and establishment of consitution/new province in FATA..rather than maintaing 1000s of years old tribal laws
