Pakistan deploys 2500 strong force to protect nuclear arsenal : Ishaq Dar

25,000? :woot: No wonder the Yanks have given up the idea of trying to take out the nukes! :cheesy:

Pakistan has raised a special response force, a special escort force and a marine force to protect and guard its strategic assets.
Response force is understood for quick reaction in case of a threat and so is a special escort force to escort warheads and fully assembled missiles from and to different locations. But I wonder what a 'marine force' is for? Is it to guard against threats from the sea? In that case this force would have to be continuously out at sea even during peace time akin to the Coast Guard.

The problem would be keeping the locations secret. After all it would be difficult to hide these detachments deployed at particular locations, which would let the cat out of the bag!

Marines: Naval special infantary for operations in enemy water and marshy Areas and save pak naval Islands and assests from any attack
Cost Guards: Guard the coast and stop smuggling etc and patrolling
SSGN: to attack enemy naval assests like destroyers or such ships and took over them and to carry special operations beneath and above water
Marityme Security Agency: to protect naval borders and stop illegal activities and special ops like search and rescue and to collect intellegence……

The real question here is How many of the generals and important persons in PA are loyal??

Numbers do count but making them immune to the external forces which may buy them is the main task.

No one general has control over any individual warhead, the locally devised system has many checks and balances on access to material. Similarly mated devices have several extra checks than PALS of US. It really is very well thought out system, however, at the same time, being so paranoid about it makes it a tad slow as well.

Hi,

It is pretty much the same percentage in any military---be it indian the american or pakistan military---. Pretty much the same percentage of generals will have radical thought---extremist views---. The problem with the indian generals is that to divert attention from real issues they would lie and create a hysteria in the public against their nemesis.

Senor---we both eat the same curry masala---the sh-it stinks the same.

Last year Pakistan inaugurated Naval strategic command and to protect naval strategic assets, a marine force is raised

In my view Military men are grooved from their youth onwards. Particularly the persons who are in key positions will grooved in such a manner that they will be hardened and tough when it comes to Patriotism and sacrifice for their mother land.

There is no doubt that such a type of generals exist in PA also, But to counter an external super power or enemies, the guys who are guarding the Nuclear assets should be made immune to luring by the external power.

I was trying to figure out the need and tasks for this 'marine force' which is part of the 25,000 troops detailed to guard the nuke assets as mentioned in the report.

What you have just mentioned has nothing to do with protection of nuclear assets.
