Pakistan Army restricts Geo Channels in its offices

Okay, let us talk about what is criticism, insult and defamation:

Criticism is "the expression of disapproval of someone or something based on perceived faults or mistakes."
Insult is to "speak to or treat with disrespect or scornful abuse."
Defamation is "the act of saying false things in order to make people have a bad opinion of someone or something."

Criticism is the expression of an opinion and must be tolerated. An insult is a perception of disrespect, which says more about the person on entity claiming to have been disrespected. Defamation cannot be proven one way or the other unless there is a formal investigation to judge the truthfulness or falsehood in what has been claimed.

In each of the three cases, the response of the Army, leaves much to be desired.

And this what military has done, filed a petition formally through MoD.
Banning geo in their offices is something personal, its like banning Facebook,twitter in offices, is that against the rights too?
Abd as per your given definitions, military has been OK with criticism and sometime insult, but now it was allot, because this was defaming, maligning them into something without even investigating the case....

Some financial losses to Geo for sure if Half a million soldiers are barred from buying Geo/Jang newspapers and tv channels bringing their TV ratings down massively.. but if Geo would receive compensation from foreign nations it wont hurt them

8f you read the news again, petition has "alleged" that geo was acting against pakistan, they provided them with evidence, it upto the 3 members commitee of pemra to decide.

It is a long jump from proving that an injustice has been done to the military, to claiming that Geo is acting against Pakistan. Yes, petitioning PEMRA is the correct thing to do, but the rules quoted in the petition are unlikely to have been violated to the extent to merit a total ban on Geo.
