Pak Suzuki stopping Alto 1000 manufacturing

That thing is a ghastly shame of auto industry.

The Japanese made this in 1997 and is a fully functional car with AC and safety features @ 25km/Liter. Someone should buy the tech + tooling and start mass manufacturing in Pakistan.

hmmm do you know the cost of that ''thing'' in InR 150000+ around .... What is the cost of Jap car cost??? Lol buddy .....

Anyways but do japs manufacture these cars in pakistan as they do in India or they just assemble them...

I m asking this bcoz if they manufacture them then atleast some know how would have been transfered to locals n the supporting industries also get a boost but if they only assemble them then pakistan govt should allow duty free import on cars atleast consumers will get them at lower price...:undecided:

Like India, Suzuki has a majority stake in PakSuzuki and they dont just assemble, majority of components of Suzuki are made in Pakistan. That cant be said of Toyota and Honda.

But still if you go and check PakSuzuki website, the cars are still very expensive.
 
Pakistan Auto sector has written the book on public private cooperative corruption.
They are selling a 30 year old car for a little less then a modern car with all new tech and safety.

The first thing a competent government needs to do is remove all restrictions on competition, including terrifs on importing cars.
Lets see how the mehran survives in a truly free market.

WIth MFN status given and trade relations increasing, Pakistan should invite Indian automobile makers who can provide better cars for less money. Tata and Mahindra for starters. Any possible reason why they won't be successful?

OI wish you can provide them good offers to set up plants in return of some ToT. Same can be done in railway engine manufacturing. This way you can raise your domestic way faster.

mehran is same as you have maruti 800. same looks same design, the Pak suzuki mehran has some local input thats the only difference.
at topic after Hundai Santro, now cuore and alto as well. bad news for middle class in pakistan because now we don't have any choice. Suzuki cultus i think does not deserves the price tag it is offered and with no one left in competition its price will go up more. i think if import duties are reduced prices will automatically come down.
 
What :woot:

1. That's out of question there is no company in pakistan with so much capability, facility and money to do it.

And it takes decades of R&D to create something worthwhile.

2. There is a short cut called takeover to take the jump to escape R&D task but there is no company in pakistan which have such money. Like in India Tata have purchased British Jaguar & Land Rover while Mahindra have purchased South Korean Ssangyong Motors.

3. There are enough products and companies all over the world to do that and that too in the budget of the targeted customers.

before 2000 there was only one compan making 70cc bikes and its price was 67k back then .. nowadays there are dozens of compamnies making bikwes of all categories from 70cc-125cc.. and there avg price is 40-45k pkr .. only due to them onda has reduced their prices .. else we would be having cd 70 at 2 lak pkr today ...

regarding quality .. i have chinese made local assemmbled bike ( not totallly chines made has huge propoprtion of local parts ) and it has done so far 60,000 kms i bought it at 36000 in 2007 ... and still engine is sealewd .. no major damage .. only regular oil,filter change and tuning and bulb change ,sprockets and chain are origial .. so isnt it quality ?

honda cd 70 is a design of 70's still same no change wheareas in chinese clones u can find any desing that u like with any features.. at fraction of the cost ... so isnt it taste ?

Maruti Suzuki is phased out of 13 major cities in India and within next 2 years it will be phased out of whole of India.

1. Because it don't see much sale because we have got better option in India.

2. Maruti Suzuki does not want to upgrade it to Euro IV or BS IV emission norms.

The at-home charging system is an as innovative induction charging system. The car has simply to be parked over the induction pad for charging to begin.
The Tata Megapixel is as distinctive in elegantly melding Indian uniqueness – in colours, graphic themes or materials – with global styling preferences.
The integrated lamp and grille graphics sweep back over the front wheel arches to render a dynamic front end.
It is echoed on the panoramic roof, creating a harmony between sun & shade and sense of interior space. The floating C-pillar and wrap-around belt line finisher integrate perfectly with the sculpted body surface, flowing freely to the rear and encapsulating the 5-spoke wheel design.
A double-sliding door system and the car’s B-pillar less design make entry/exit easy, besides superb visibility.
The battery layout and hub motors maximize the interior package. So, the Tata Megapixel comfortably accommodates four adults with luggage.
The front seats are cantilevered on the central tunnel, releasing floor space for additional storage. Light leather trims and rose metal details accentuate the joyous marriage of richness of tradition and innovativeness of technology.
This fusion is heightened by an advanced human machine interface (HMI). The console docking point can connect a smart phone with the car.
The built-in large touchscreen HMI, at the centre of the instrument panel, thus becomes a common access point for the repertoire of the smart device and for controlling the functions of the car, like temperature, ventilation, driving modes and performance.
The Tata Megapixel denotes Tata Motors’ progression from the Tata Pixel, based on the Tata Nano and a city car concept for Europe, reflecting the company’s future design direction
Tata Motors’ displays also include the new generation Tata Safari Storme SUV, the Tata Aria crossover, the Tata Indigo Manza sedan and the Tata Indica Vista hatchback.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prakash M. Telang, Managing Director - India Operations, Tata Motors, said, “The Tata Megapixel, developed by our design centres in India, the UK and Italy, is our idea of a city car for discerning motorists in any megacity of the world.
It is a result of the progress we have made on the Tata Pixel, displayed last year, and also denotes the company’s future design direction.”

Monopolies (sometimes involving sole-trading) have always restricted competitive growth, development and pricing.
We can look into allowing Tata and Mahindra into Pakistan as long as they're manufactured here.
