What's new

Our first-hand experience with Amazon’s new palm reader, and what it says about the future of retail

The more I see the digitised world - the less I want it live in it.

Well it could be worse...certain other countries think it is ok to use facial recognition. Which means every person has their face info in a database somewhere..which brings up all sorts of dystopian "1984" type connotations.

As a Pakistani would you really want some foreign company like Amazon having information about your face on file? So having stuff like that sounds cool on paper..but in reality it just isn't scalable to world markets. Even Apple has to keep the face unlock info on the phone and not send it anywhere to get around country issues.

Amazon certainly isn't going to do that...and they aren't going to go the fingerprint route either. So palm is the way to go.
