Obama to withdraw 30,000 troops against Pentagon advice

Yes the criminal religious fanatic murderers who want to crush and end any and all efforts toward democracy in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and if they could, in Iraq, are disgusting thugs. About as backward and useful as two broken legs together with two broken arms. The world has been cursed with their existance in their violent form ever since 1993 when the first attack on the twin trade towers in NYC failed [basement bomb did some damage, killed and wounded several international innocents, but did not bring down the towers at that time.]

why is usa champ of democracy, all countries have their own opinions, n dictatorship is better then the death of your love ones.

The devil is in the details. How many troops to be withdrawn is the big question.

So far, there is no announcement about that. Wait till tomorrow.

As I see it, 30,000 means Americans ARE going to pull out of this region before too long. This theory about 'permanent bases' in the region should lose its value. The large number could also mean there is some kind of agreement with the Talibans.

5,000 or whatever may be considered a token withdrawl means there is hope that the Talibans may be crushed or beaten enough to make them 'behave'.

Also, it is interesting to read that more and more people in American blogspace--at least in comments--are beginning to say things like: 'Talibans are tribal, backward, violent etc but that's just the Afghan problem. Al-Qaida is the main problem and we have taken care of them'. I remember shortly after even 9/11 some American Senator had said: 'Well, the Talibans have at least principles. Northern Alliance are no better than drug lords'. That was said around the time of the toppling of the Talibans. Such thoughts existed even then.

Anyway, the main problem in Afghanistan is the proxy wars, led by India and Pakistan. Looking at the Indian foreign secretary (or was in FM) today that India and Pakistan will have to work with each other to stabilize Afghanistan, I think things are gelling toward something, hopefully, better for the region.

All is going against PAkistan.Pressure will mount on PAkistan from Taliban side as witnessed in last few days in form of border attacks.
When US left after cold war, taliban were our friends now they are our enemies.I doubt situation will worsen in our tribal areas as Taliban will be victorious after US exit

What do you mean all is going against Pakistan? US leaving Afghanistan will be good for Pakistan, the sooner they do it the better. The war is responsible for all the instability you see in Pakistan.

Won't be good for Pakistan as the Taliban shift their focus to conquering Pakistan. After all it is their homeland as well with Afghanistan. With Afghanistan as a base they will able to inflict casualties and retreat back to Afghanistan until Pakistan has weakened.

All terrorism inside Pakistan is being sponsored & supported by US & they use expertise of india since she is experienced & work well with locals...

So with US gone Pakistan will be a safer place,,, just like during USSR invasion india was given free-hand in Afghan & Pakistan was rattles with explosions,,,, then with india gone from Afghan & Pak-friendly govt. in Afghan Pak was at peace again,,,,

Now, evil-india has free-hand in Afghan AGAIN,,, & Pakistan is target of terrorism AGAIN,,, same old perpetrators just a new garb & new tactics of suicidals that india has used in Sri Lanka before,,, of-course under umbrella & help from evil-US...

With this Dajjali-US gone dead Pakistan WILL be a peacefull place again contrary to ur defective speculation...

I'm sorry but that is just so wrong. Pakistan and the U.S. supported the Mujahadeen during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Since then the Pakistanis created the Taliban and now its coming back to bite you guys in the butt.

We know all of the that are being bitten and ours is not the only one.

US has itself at last count with last surge -130,000 troops there. thats the official count I hear all the time on the news here. That leaves 100k troops. Bottom line: US won't give up prime real estate in china's backyard... will have a presence there for decade or more.

NATO is a joke... Might as well rename it "USA and a bunch of others used for their airspaces"...
America is the only one truly powerful nation amongst NATO nations.

That's because only the US is the one with Global military intervention and putting finger up everyone's A** and then wondering why World hates America.

Germany is one example of having a pretty good military along with Turkey, their economies are doing better than US even though they don't have any military adventures abroad on the scale US does.

US must stop it's policy of acting as world police or they will eventually go broke.

USA aint leaving Afghanistan anytime soon , atleast 20,000 troops will remain for this decade, minimum.

Maybe US is pulling them out to send them to some other muslim country to create a new mess there

Good god, where having you been hearing this nonsense from about Afghan Taliban trying to conquer Pakistan?

I already had this discussion with you: Afghan Taliban don't want to have anything to do with Pakistan.

So the bharati non sense delusion is spreading.

1. Afghani Taliban wasn't created by Pakistan. Pakistan supporting it, and they have never attacked Pakistan.
2. Who is attacking Pakistan is not Afghani Taliban but Pakistani Taliban. Pakistan had zilch to do with creating or supporting Pakistani Taliban - it was against Pakistani Taliban from day 1.
