Mumbai woman gangraped in SUV near Bhopal

HOPAL: In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old woman from Mumbai was allegedly gangraped by three men in a speeding SUV while her husband was held
at gunpoint on Wednesday night. The incident took place on the outskirts of Bhopal. The victim and her husband, residents of central Mumbai, had come to the city on Monday to get their two children admitted to the Asaram Bapu Ashram School here.

The incident comes six days after a similar case in Surat where a teenaged girl was gangraped by three youths in a car.

SP (Bhopal) Jaideep Prasad said, “The couple left the Asaram Bapu ashram at around 8.30 pm. Since the ashram is on the outskirts of the city, they could not find transport to take them back to their hotel in Bhopal. They hitched a ride in a black Innova which had four men. But the moment they boarded the vehicle, the SUV made a U-turn and sped.” According to him, the men in the vehicle were drunk and “very rich people who seemed to be in a frolicking mood, not regular anti-social elements’’ and put a gun to the husband’s head and threatened him.

While one of them held the husband at gunpoint, the others, excluding the driver, took turns to rape the hapless woman. After committing the heinous crime, the men sped up and down the Bhopal-Rajgarh highway. At about 2.45 am, they stopped the vehicle at Mubarakpur Square, 15 km from Bhopal, and pushed the couple down. They also dumped the car seat cover, a couple of silver bracelets and other sundry items, which have been seized.

Soon after the couple reported the incident to the police, raids were conducted in some parts of the city until Thursday morning, but no arrests were made.

The police, who have announced a Rs 5,000 reward for anyone providing information on the accused, are now on the lookout for the black Innova. “We have a list of all black Innovas registered in Bhopal. We are trying to get a list of all such vehicles registered in the state,’’ Prasad said. The couple left the city for Mumbai after the victim’s medical tests.

Manipuri girl in DU alleges molestation by teacher

new delhi : An 18-year-old Delhi University student was allegedly molested by her teacher at a tuition center in Mukherjee Nagar area
of north-west Delhi on Thursday afternoon. The accused has been arrested following a complaint from the girl. The victim is a first-year undergraduate student of a North Campus college and belongs to Manipur.

Ironically, she used to go to the tuition centre in Vijay Nagar area to learn Hindi. Her efforts to improve her communication skills in the language that the city speaks brought her face to face with a harsh reality: she was allegedly sexually harassed by Yogesh Kumar Arora (32), who used to give her the lessons in Hindi.

Police said the student had joined the coaching institute on June 10 this year. "Yogesh, one of the teachers at the institute, started making sexual advances towards her right from the beginning. This culminated in the incident on Thursday which finally drove her to the police,'' said a senior police officer.

"The girl initially kept quiet but when Yogesh persisted, she protested and warned him, but he threatened her. Finally, he forced himself on the girl but she managed to raise an alarm and run away,'' added the officer.

On Thursday evening, the victim narrated the incident to her brother after which she lodged a complaint with the police along with the north-east student council members at Mukherjee Nagar police station, said N S Bundela, DCP (northwest). "We then arrested him,'' he said.

The president of the city's N-E helpline, Lansinglu Rongmei, said, "We came to know about the complaint from the victim's brother after which we approached the police.'' A case under section 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman) has been registered. The victim has been living in the city for the past one year along with her brother.

This year there have already been 200 cases of molestation in the Capital. Last year, there had been strong protests from north-east organisations after a spate of molestation incidents, including several cases involving those appearing for the Delhi Police exams.

Home guard 'kills' family, ends life

SURYAPET: In a bizarre incident, a home guard committed suicide after forcing his family members, including his two wives and two children, to
consume pesticide-laced soft drink at his house in Suryapet town of Nalgonda district in the wee hours of Thursday.

The home guard, Kodi Saidulu (35), working in the office of the deputy superintendent of police in the town for the last 10 years, resorted to the extreme step after his two wives raised a banner of revolt against him for marrying a third time and making the third woman pregnant.

Sources said Saidulu gave the poison-mixed cold drink to his first wife Venkatamma (30), two daughters Renka (13) and Srivani (12) and his second wife Nagamani (22) before consuming it himself at their house in Mamillagedda. All five of them died.

It is still not clear whether the family members were aware of his intentions to kill them or was it a suicide pact. Police officials could not confirm it and merely said that investigations are on.

According to sources, after he had two daughters from Venkatamma, Saidulu insisted on having a baby boy and married Nagamani. But, Nagamani could not conceive as her uterus was removed. As he was desperate to have a boy, he secretly married another woman.

"The two wives began quarrelling with him once they came to know that the third woman is carrying his child," a source said. The police shifted the bodies to the government hospital for an autopsy. A police official said a probe is on whether the home guard killed them before ending his life or all the five members of the family died under a suicide pact.

Father of disabled boy accuses school of discrimination

CHENNAI: It was a rude awakening for the parents of Vishal, a physically challenged nine-year-old, when they tried to get him admitted to a
school in the neighbourhood in which they were living in.

It all began when Annadurai R, the father of the boy, tried to get his two sons admitted to G K Shetty Vivekananda Vidyalaya Junior College in Ambattur West as he believed the children would get a holistic education in a CBSE school. Vishal cannot walk without a walker or climb stairs without assistance. The father wanted to put his two children, Vishal and Vignesh, in class IV and LKG respectively, at the school as it had a good reputation.

While Vignesh was given admission to LKG, Vishal was asked to appear for an entrance test for admission to Class IV. "Vishal was supposed to take the test on June 3. I have been trying to meet the school principal since April to explain my son's medical condition to him, but each time I approached him he told me that he didn't have the time to listen to my personal problems," Annadurai said.

"I realised that the school may have a problem because my son requires extra care. I wanted to tell them that I was willing to provide a caretaker for him or pay for one if the school finds a person to accompany him to classes or to the toilet. But nobody in the school was willing to hear me out. When the principal finally agreed to meet me on June 2, a day before the entrance test, he said he won't be able to care for one child when there were 2,500 other children. He mocked my offer to pay for a caretaker in front of others and insulted me. If he had refused admission to my child in a more polite way it would have made the news a bit easy to bear," the father said.

School principal K Ponraman had a different story to tell. "I refused the boy a seat because none were vacant. He wasn't the only child we refused. His disability had nothing to do with it. We gave him the hall ticket but he failed to appear for the test," said Ponraman.

Annadurai said he discussed the issue with the CBSE regional director but was told that admission was the sole discretion of the school management. He also approached the Counsumer Council but did not get a proper response from them. So he lodged a complaint with the human rights commission and will be serving notices to the HRD secretary, the school principal and the CBSE regional director. Advocate K Murugan said they were in the process of filing a public interest litigation requesting the government to set up norms to regulate the admission of children with physical disabilities in CBSE schoools.

Meanwhile, Vishal and Vignesh continue studying in their old school, Bharathi Matriculation School in Pattabhiram. Both say they want to go to the same school: Vishal because he would otherwise feel left out and Vignesh because he will be around to help his brother if he needs it. Doctors say that with regular physiotherapy Vishal will be able to strengthen his muscles enough to be independent.

Man kills pregnant wife, stabs self

MOHALI: Police said that a gardener and Phase-XI resident, Bablu, murdered his four-months pregnant wife Shobha, 24, in the early hours of
Thursday by using a pair of gardening scissors. They stated that he had also tried to kill himself with the same instrument. Police said the two had an altercation when Shobha insisted on visiting her parents. The couple had got married two years ago and were staying in a rented accommodation.

Bablu’s aunt Sunita, who works as a maid in the same house, was the first to notice Shobha dead in a pool of blood and an injured Bablu lying nearby, said cops.

She informed the landlord, who called in the police. As the door was locked from inside, cops made their way in from the window through which Sunita saw the couple.

Cops said the entire floor was covered with blood and the gardening scissors were recovered from there.

Bablu was rushed to civil hospital, Phase VI, in an unconscious state and is undergoing treatment.

Cops said the landlord’s family members and Bablu’s aunt had gone to check on the couple when they did not emerge from the house till late. Sources said Bablu and Shobha used to get up early.

Bablu’s brother Shalinder, who works as a labourer, said the couple used to fight quite often. “It was a regular thing between them, but we did not know Bablu would go to such an extent,” he said with a choked voice.

The body was sent for autopsy and the report is awaited. A case was registered and an inquiry has been initiated.

Surat gangrape further sours Modi-Togadia relations

SURAT:The already-strained relations between Hindutva posterboy Narendra Modi and Vishwa Hindu Parishad's top brass are likely to grow more
bitter, following the Surat gangrape incident.

VHP leaders have alleged that Modi government virtually gagged the outfit which had organised a bandh on Monday to protest against the incident. VHP leaders, who were taken into preventive detention on Sunday, a day ahead of the bandh on Sunday, have alleged that they were subjected to unnecessary and intense interrogation and frivolous questions were thrown at them. Durlabh Bhalala, secretary of Surat VHP, alleged that the questioning of the police was targeted at VHP's international general secretary Pravin Togadia. He was asked if Togadia had directed the VHP workers to burn buses during the bandh. "I told them that the tone of their interrogation was insulting not only to Togadia but the entire Sangh Parivar," Bhalala said. He that the police had also shown him the transcript of a telephone conversation between him and Togadia on the issue of the bandh. The entire interrogation, he claimed, was shot on camera at Umra police station and he was interrogated by police inspector KN Patel.

Talking to TOI, Togadia said Gujarat government was responsible for muzzling the organisation. "VHP was unnecessarily targeted ever since we raised our voice against the gangrape. We want to know who ordered the phone taping of our leaders and whether police officers had permission to do so. Gujarat government should give us a reply," said Togadia. Relations between Togadia and Modi have remained strained for very long. Earlier this year, when Modi government ordered the demolition of over 200 temples in Gandhinagar, VHP general secretary Ashok Singhal had rushed to the state capital and called him Ghazni'.

Are you given the status of Senior based on the amount of juvenility you show?

If you manage to remove these hate glasses from your eyes, may be you will notice that these are crimes that happen all over the world which the law enforcement agencies deal with...same as in incredible India.

However what Does Not happen in India is an organized group of people taking over parts of the country and beating our women on the streets in the name of some convoluted law that my government recognizes.

Regards.
