New signs of Syria-Pakistan nuke tie: AP
New signs of Syria-Pakistan nuke tie: AP | World | DAWN.COM
UN investigators have identified a previously unknown complex in Syria that bolsters suspicions that the regime worked with Abdul Qadeer Khan, the father of Pakistans atomic bomb, to acquire technology that could make nuclear weapons.
Officials told The Associated Press the buildings closely match the design of a uranium enrichment plant provided to Libya when Moammar Qadhafi was trying to build nuclear weapons under Khans guidance.
UN investigators also have obtained correspondence between Khan and a Syrian official. The Syrian proposed cooperation and a visit to Khans laboratories.
Details were provided to the AP by a senior diplomat and a former UN investigator. Both spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.
