Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Zahir Uddin Ahmed returned home on Monday after attending a symposium titled "3rd Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS)" held at Cape Town, South Africa.
President of South Africa inaugurated the five-day symposium on April 8 where Chiefs of Naval Forces from different countries including Indian Ocean area attended, said a release here today.
'Regional maritime security initiatives aimed at reducing modern maritime security threats' was the main topic of the symposium.
Admiral Zahir Uddin highlighted the contribution and activities of Bangladesh Navy to ensure overall security at the Bay of Bengal and assured all possible cooperation regarding regional maritime security.
A three-member delegation team led by Navy Chief left Dhaka on April 08 for attending the symposium.
