MQM - Political Desk

i dont understand why MQM which has an excellent organisation in karachi has no organisation in interior sindh and punjab, will MQM not be excepted in other parts of pakistan?

tell me which party doesnt have land grabbers, dont try to play smart and label MQM a land grabbing party, esp when you have no proves

about bhatta, even PTI is involved in bhatta khori

do you have proof of zardari being corrupt? MQM is clearly a land grabbing and bhatta khauri party!

and video of its 12th may shooting and killing is avaliable everywhere! no one needs anymore proof except ofcourse people who work for MQM!

i dont understand why MQM which has an excellent organisation in karachi has no organisation in interior sindh and punjab, will MQM not be excepted in other parts of pakistan?

people don't want land grabbing bhatta mafia to be elected!

other cities and provinces are more peaceful then karachi!

and what you call excellent organization people call it systematic mafia like daoud ibrahim style!

MQM chief questions poll process

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain Friday said the elections authorities were asking insulting and irrelevant questions and the rejections of the forms of many a candidates seemed an attempt to distracting the election process.
Hussain was addressing a press conference from London at the Nine Zero, the MQM headquarters in central Karachi.
He said the election authorities were asking weird questions to the candidates as to how many wives they had and with whom they spend much of their time.
“This is ridiculous and very insulting to ask personal question to establish the eligibility of the candidatures,” he said.
He also termed the rejection of a candidate’s nomination because he purportedly wrote an article against the ideology of Pakistan.
“For one it could be against the ideology of Pakistan but someone else might have thought it in accordance with the ideology,” he explained and called upon the Supreme Court of Pakistan and other constitutional to define once and for all the ideology of Pakistan.
“Was the ideology confined to only offer prayers fastening your hands on your chests,” he questioned.
He also pointed out that a lady candidate who was veiled was asked by the election officer that she did not look 35 of age and demanded her to unveil her so that he could be convinced of her age.
“What kind of scrutiny that was going on, they are making mockery of the scrutiny process,” Hussain said.
The returning officers were asking the question under articles 62, 63 which require a candidate for general seats a practicing Muslim.
“Many of the returning officers themselves do not qualify under the articles 62, 63,” he said.
He ironically called upon the chief election commissioner to appear on the TV and teach the nation as to how the funeral prayers were offered.
He was referring to the questions of the district returning officers were asking the candidates to recite the different Quranic verses.
He also criticized the delimitation of the electoral constituencies in only Karachi which he called as ‘robbery on the mandate of MQM in Karachi.”

The MQM had divided Punjab into three zones -- centre, south and upper Punjab.

MQM does a great work at dividing. Also reincarnating itself as Muttahida, its leader speaking from London never fails to tell us, in his infinite wisdom, how many language entities and how many provinces Pakistan has.

MQM claims to represent educated middle class Pakistanis. But it has always been in alliance with feudals. As Pakistanis have very short memory, it was MQM British leader who said what was for the first ever by any political leader in 2008 - 'humaray saddar tau zardari hon gayey'. From then on, MQM had supported the most corrupt, the most incompetent and most heavily foreign influenced govt. in history of Pakistan.

If it was truly middle class, and truly revolutionary as its leaders always claim to be, it would have been seen struggling against the status quo of feudal system. It was the most spectacular hypocrisy of all time, that a party was struggling against the system, at least in rhetoric, and had been supporting a corrupt, feudal government.

MQM message held a universal appeal. Its leaders were not big enough to look beyond the ethnic group they were representing. Its because of their vision or lack of it and their behavior like college goons that their appeal has fizzled out and the party has been reduced to a couple of cities.

And dont even get me started on the violence committed by MQM. As I m an eye witness and dont go by the news reports or propaganda.

imran khan hs taken all the waderas jagirdars in his party, why dont you criticise imran khan i have never seen you criticise PTI

MQM has taken many lotas from PPP and ANP biggest example is NABEEL GABOL! so how can MQM say it is not the party of wadera and jagiradara too?

also MQM sat for 10 years with dictator musharraf then 5 years with wadera zardari! so how can MQM even dare to claim itself a clean party???

and no matter how much PML Q and PML N hate each other in punjab they don't go around terrorising the city! like MQM does! one phone call from UK and karachi is shut down and burning and shooting starts!

right but who brought the gun culture in karchi was it MQM, and PMLN and PMLQ dont operate armed militants? who fired on the house of pervez ilahi? and doesnt PTI and ISF operate armed militants? if MQM is solo on this then i can consider your arguement you are showing as if MQM is lone on this matter

PTI even killed one student in peshawar

gun culture in pakistan is not introduced by MQM, pathans when they came to karachi also brought guns with them and still the guns are coming from peshawar, all the guns which exist in krachi dont belong to MQM

gun culture was solely introduced by MQM! before 1990s and rise of MQM karachi was peaceful! ZIA-UL-HAQ made MQM to decrease power of PPP in sindh and karachi!

as for PTI & PML N and PML Q killing people please wake up and stop being brain washed! none of these parties go out killing people like MQM did in 2007 MAY 12th!!!

PPP and ANP also carry guns but only to defend against MQM in karachi!!! to fight MQM everyone needs to protect themselves from MQM by carrying guns!

MQM is a criminal party lead by a UK national. and 12th may proved that MQM is criminal!

Karachi – The political fortress of MQM

Senior leaders of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement have been trotting the country in recent months, rallying support for the party in Punjab and the Hazara belt. But the party’s main support continues to be in the port city.

Karachi is the MQM’s political fortress.

When MQM leaders took part in the 1998 General Elections for the first time; they had contested as independent candidates. Since then the party has bagged the lion’s share of National Assembly seats from this city. In the most recent elections, the party won no fewer than 17 out of 20 National Assembly seats from Karachi.

In 1997, the MQM which at that time had fielded candidates under the Haq Parast Group label, had bagged 10 out of 13 NA seats from this city. In the 2002 General Elections, the party managed to win 12 seats, while the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal bagged five NA seats from Karachi.

At that time, MQM had initially planned to boycott the polls, only to field candidates at the eleventh hour.

Even so, the three NA seats lost to the MMA were lost by paltry margins. In NA-241, the MQM candidate lost by just 479 votes. In NA-250 and NA-253, the margin was less than 3,000 votes. On the other hand, the party’s lead in the constituencies it won in 2008, was hefty as it led by an average of more than 28,000 votes.

After a stellar performance in the 2005 Local Government Elections, the MQM initiated and completed a number of mega-projects for infrastructure development and civic services. The citizens of Karachi appreciated the effort put in by then-Mayor Mustafa Kamal and the MQM’s Local Government.

As a result, voters turned out like never before in the 2008 General Elections. The MQM didnt just win 17 NA seats in those elections; it annihilated the competition. Of course, Jamaat-e-Islami’s decision to boycott those polls, also helped clear the field for MQM.

In eight constituencies, MQM’s candidates won by a margin of more than 100,000 votes. In another seven constituencies of the NA, the party’s candidates led by more than 30,000 votes each.

Three NA seats from the city have so far eluded MQM. NA-239, NA-248 and NA258 have been won by either Pakistan Peoples Party or Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, in both the 2002 and 2008 General Elections.

Recent delimitation of constituencies in Karachi has been interpreted as a threat to election prospects by MQM, which has also challenged the same in the Sindh High Court. Besides, NA-249 and NA-250 can be considered constituencies where the party may feel threatened, despite having bagged both in the previous election.

very nice but where ever MQM cannot use its gun to get votes and terrorise people it has no hold! in 20 years of being a party it has litreally no popularity outside hyderabad, karachi and maybe one more sindh city.

as long as MQM is known as a bhatta khaur terrorist party it can not ever progress further. it will remain like shiv sena of bal thackrey! a party conrolling just a city!
