Moscow offers update on casualties from Ukraine conflict

The Russian Defense Ministry provided a rare update on the casualties the country's armed forces have suffered during the ongoing military offensive in Ukraine, on Friday.

“Unfortunately, during the special military operation there have been losses among our comrades-in-arms. To date, 1,351 servicemen have died and 3,825 have been injured,” the deputy head of the Russian General Staff, Colonel General Sergey Rudskoy told a media briefing.

The official did not provide any figures on soldiers who have potentially gone missing in action or been taken prisoner amid the conflict. The Ukrainian side has sustained heavy casualties (around 30,000) over the past month, Rudskoy clarified. According to Russian military estimates, around 14,000 Ukrainian troops have been killed, and a further 16,000 have been injured.

Ukraine’s military has sustained major losses in hardware, with nearly 1,600 tanks and other armored vehicles destroyed, he alleged, adding that the Russian offensive has largely destroyed Kiev’s air and anti-aircraft forces, while its navy has effectively ceased to exist.

Once eastern Ukraine is under Russia's control, Russia should give up this strategy of minimizing civilian casualties for the rest of Ukraine.
If you see a Ukrainian soldier on the top of a residential building, then just call in air support and bomb that entire building. Because currently the Russians are fighting the Ukrainians with bullets from room to room and from building to building, this style of fighting should only be reserved for eastern Ukraine.

If we include the number from LPR and DPR, Chechen...the total number of death should be two thousand+.
Salute to those anti-fascist soldiers.

Indeed.
This style of fighting is unsustainable, while it's true that Russian soldiers went there to kill (even if it is a just cause, and it definitely is a just cause) so they have to accept that they could get killed (live by the sword, die by the sword) however just like the civilains the soldiers have families too.

That is why IMO once the fight in eastern Ukraine is over, Russia should take off the gloves and bomb everything that moves in central and western Ukraine.

Yes. They have not gone in in full force. They have launched fewer air strikes in the entire war than the US and allies launched on Iraq in the first day.

I understand that they want to destroy the better part of the Ukrainian forces in the east before turning west, but this is very slow. The longer this invasion takes, the more chance of a change of mind by Nato and a serious clash.
