Morocco is the 17th country to acquire the Boeing AH-64 Apache through a contract for 24 of the helicopters that was recently signed. Boeing has delivered nearly 2,500 Apache helicopters to 16 nations to date, including the U.S., Netherlands, Greece, United Kingdom, Japan, India, Singapore, South Korea and Saudi Arabia. Deliveries to Morocco are expected to begin in 2024.

“This is another step forward in our long partnership with the Kingdom of Morocco,” said Jeff Shockey, vice president, Global Sales and Marketing, Boeing Defense, Space & Security and Government Services. “Worldwide demand for the Apache is growing and we are proud to provide this best-in-class capability to Morocco.”

The AH-64E Apache is the latest configuration of the attack helicopter. It is designed and equipped with an open systems architecture including the latest communications, navigation, sensor and weapon systems. It has an improved Modernized Target Acquisition Designation System that provides day, night and all-weather target information, as well as night vision navigation capability. In addition to classifying ground and air targets, the Fire Control Radar has been updated to operate in a maritime environment.

Boeing will build and deliver the new Moroccan Apaches under a contract with the U.S. Army through the U.S. government’s Foreign Military Sales process.

Boeing’s partnership with Morocco spans decades. The company is committed to developing Morocco’s supply chain and future workforce. Boeing is a partner of the MATIS Aerospace joint venture, which produces airplane wire bundles and harnesses. In 2016, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kingdom to create an ecosystem of aircraft equipment suppliers. Boeing also supports the country's future workforce through partnerships with Education for Employment (EFE) Morocco and the INJAZ Al-Maghrib association.

I liked the Apache but then i came to find out the large numbers saudi arabia lost to houthis.

What were the # losses?
Official figures are around 11 lost since 2015 but many believe the real number is around 25. These losses are too high, that too against houthi rebels that are not an advanced military.

The most effective way to deal with Houthi is to use uav and MOAB.

This country is not rich and has no border conflicts.
Why bought so expensive Apache helicopter?

Why bought so expensive Apache helicopter?
You are mistaken. Familiarize yourself with the history of the region.

Morocco has border disputes with Spain to the north, Algeria to the East and an active separatist movement to the South. If anyone needs to modernize its army is Morocco. Also, our army had no dedicated heavy helicopter gunships.

DO they have MMW Radars?
Yes, 18 of them will have them. The Apache we ordered is the Block 3 Version 6.

Brother @Alithemoor1 what is going to happent to the Gazelle helicopters? Is there a way to modernize them?
I think by 2024 they would have outlived their use and no further upgrade would make them safe nor useful.

A separate contact was signed for 12 others.

That isn't a lot even US lost in Afghanistan against insurgents less armed than the Houthis are.

Why would they not have MMW radars?

The US lost around 12 in 19 years as compared to 5 year losses of saudi. my point was not that saudis are bad but the helicopter is. This only proves that its not as good as the price of it.

12 lost for various reasons in 19 years is not that bad. Losses are always expected and if anything this makes it combat proven. Furthermore, The Apache AH E Guardian is the best in its class. No one comes even close.
