Monks with guns

Hence attitude of the Budhhist monks should not be a surprise to anyone.

I'd agree with almost 99% of your post but this.. Even at the extreme scale you'd find the vast majority of the Buddhist clergy adverse to any kind of violence, Violence of any form totally contravenes their core belief.. It's the more nationalist minority within the Sangha even in places like Myanmar, Sri Lanka or even in Thailand, that would espouse any kind of violence as a defensive mechanism

So it's an exception rather than the norm

Btw thanks to all the contributors for keeping this dialog really interesting with different perspectives

Every religion has violence within it, it's a thing. Christians have got the KKK, LRA, IRA, Crusaders, etc. Buddhists have got Burma, Kushans, Ashoka, etc. Muslims have got, well, we don't even need to start there...

The fact is, violence is a part of every religion.

Perhaps correct but the wrong way around?

Violence is part of Humanity that no religion has yet eliminated.
