Almost exactly 16 years ago on 28 November, Iran won qualification for the France 1998 World Cup beating Australia. The match between Milan Glorie and Persepolis will also celebrate the career of Mahdi Mahdavi Kias, Persolopilis player who made 111 appearances for the Iranian national and spent years playing for Bayern Munich. This match will be his goodbye to the professional game. Also on hand will be Ali Daie, Karim Bagheri and Vahid Hashemian, all players who have written the history books of Iranian football and will find themselves up against some of the most legendary players in Milan’s rich history.

Perspolis Football Club,: An example for Iran and for Asia
Mohammad Rouyanian, Persepolis president, traveled to Italy at the end of last year and after meeting with Adriano Galliani, expressed his admiration for the way that the club and it’s proprietor made Milan the most decorated club in the world. The desire to create and develop a form of collaboration between the two clubs came naturally. Collaboration is already underway that will see the Milan Academy help to export and replicate the Milan Model with Persepolis. The club celebrates its 50 year anniversary this year. The Teheran derby between Persepolis and Esteghlal is the biggest match in Asian football and takes place in the Azadi stadium in the heart of the city.
