Made in India Vehicles

...Somehow..Ashok Leyland doesn't seem to have a good design team...
Wht inspired them to make this vehicle look like this..
A Rhino or a Pig...
To me it seems the later one....Poor design and no doubt ..will not last long...
Poor owners of the few sold units will have to shell thousands for the spare parts...

^^

Tangent, that's just a SRK designed concept. SRK is a young kid fresh out of auto engg. school, and designs as a hobby.

Design, like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder. Many find AL and specifically the Dost's design iconic. Tata's Ace is also an iconic thing, the new Ace carries said design over. I personally like both.

India's auto design industry is developing fast but a long way to go ;), well not that long.

I think like China, while India ramped up it's auto industry with $ 10 Billion in exports now, it is in design, marketing and sales that Indian auto Co.'s are leading China. Simultaneously, Indian Co.'s are going into better, even best-of-breed tech. and design.

Mobility of the 4x4 tactical vehicle

The COLT LTV is a right hand driven (RHD) vehicle with a gradient negotiation of 45°. It has a side slope stability angle of 300, which helps to maintain stability on uneven terrains. It has approach and departure angles of 76° and 55° respectively.
The LTV can cruise at a maximum speed of 120km/h. It can travel up to a maximum distance of 800km.
The COLT can ford water depths of up to 0.535m without any preparation. It is fitted with a coil spring with axle locating A-frame suspension to provide better grip and all-terrain smooth drive for its crew.

Mahindra's made it through the Indian eco. reforms then!

News says they are looking to invest $ 2-3 Billion :smitten:;
more like $ 5-15 Billion, PPP, a 1'st for M&M!

Plus, M&M sells over 10,000 tractors in the US from 2-3 assembly plants it operates there.
If they can sell in the tough US market, they can take on anything.

I Wish M&M Update and Make the Ssangyong Solo and Kallista Below In India:

The spend is mostly in India, M&M swallowed Korean Ssangyong and the money is for leveraging Ss's design, manufacturing etc. in India and just locking up the home market. M&M can clean up just by dropping prices and steering clear of the MNC's who don't have an anti Mahindra play at all, except maybe Renault/Nissan. That's tough enough for M&M.

You're joking right?

^^

If wishes were true.

I believe there may be a market for them in developing countries, M&M is good at doing ltd. edition runs.
Problem is that desi Co.'s are risk averse and prefer buing out established, running brands. Things are changing though.

PT Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia, a unit of India’s largest vehicle maker, has introduced Tata Aria, Vista and Safari Storme in Indonesia, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
Tata Motors plans to make Indonesia a hub to export vehicles to Southeast Asia as the country is set to overtake Thailand as the region’s biggest car market.
Tata Motors is entering Indonesia as the country is set to become Southeast Asia’s biggest car market in 2014, according to IHS Automotive. Most of the region’s 600 million people—the combined population of the US, Germany and Brazil—will be middle class by 2020, and that will boost consumer demand, according to Bain and Co.
