Live video from Chinese satellite JL-1: real time moving objects monitoring

With the combination of space weapons such as laser, all big flying objects such as Boeing 737 size will become a turkey shoot in sky, this mean China can attack any nations without being limited by range, we can virtually attack anything in US sky include Air force 1 once we weaponized the space.:D

Man, don't you even appreciate the limitations of all of this stuff.

Let me list down the limitation of low orbit, Earth observation Satellites:

  1. Low temporal resolution. That is in low earth orbit, each satellite can visit one spot in a day or something like this. Even with a constellation of 100 satellites, the temporal resolution can be increased to may be a maximum of 10 minutes. (A missile, or airplane can manuevour a lot in that time.)
  2. Limits on Resolution:
  3. Data Analysis: Let's say you don't know anything about an incoming missile, or fighter. Can you image it and find it out? Close to impossible. In an area of thousands of square km, a missile or fighter is smaller than a pin in a haystack. Even using computers, it would be very hard to point things out.
  4. Clarity: This satellite is an optical satellite and it will not work/ work inefficiently during night, and also in windy/rainy/cloudy/smoggy environment.

All in all, your statement that you can locate anything of the size of Boeing 737 is simply false, and incorrect.

Here is the new footage, and from 0:46 to 0:55, it can also detect the presence of the submarines???

No, it can not.

Any submarine that doesn't want to be seen will be hundreds of meters below sea surface.

Also, seeing whales from above is nothing novel. Whales and dolphins need to come to the surface to breathe. They can often be found just beneath the surface, where their outline can be captured.

Look at this image above. This has been captured using a DJI drone.

I also forgot to mention that US is a pioneer in this field, and it is far ahead in Earth Observation Ability, in temporal, spatial, and spectral resolution.

You guys are just catching up.

Meanwhile US continues to surge ahead.

Since Chinese anti-satellite missile test, US is already working to develop defensive mechanism against ASAT.

THAAD serves that purpose. It takes out objects from hundreds of miles away, headed up or down. So it would take out anything going towards the Satellites also. The Korean deployment and the USN combo gives the US a quick reaction capability. Next, the US Satellites will have lasers also, to burn or destroy the inbound missiles towards her missiles.

These guys in China are forgetting, they proudly talk about "weaponizing the space" in 2016  like no one else's been to the Space yet.

We've been running Star Wars like programs since the 1980's . My only question to the Chinese members going gung-ho here, is that "what do you know about space today" :usflag:

I think what Genghis_khan1 was emphasizing is that satellites today do not have a credible defense against ASAT missiles. As an alternative, countries reliant on satellite-based navigation or targeting are developing quick-response launch vehicles to ameliorate the threat of having their ears & eyes taken out.

The THAAD is an ABM or ASAT missile, designed to take out either ballistic missiles on their reentry phase or satellites in a predetermined orbit, via pre-calculated intercept points. It's not designed to take out other unpredictable ASAT missiles on their way towards an orbiting target.

Can you also post a link regarding satellite-borne lasers? As far as I know, satellites have only been used against satellites from ground-based emitters, not vice versa.
