Labour hopeful suspended over anti-Israel tweets

A parliamentary candidate for Britain’s main opposition Labour Party has been suspended over her anti-Israel tweets.
Vicki Kirby, who is Labour’s candidate in Woking at the general election, was suspended by the party officials on Saturday after posting anti-Israeli comments on her Twitter feed, describing Israel as “evil.”
“We invented Israel when saving them from Hitler, who now seems to be their teacher,” she reportedly wrote.
The parliamentary hopeful is also criticized over a separate post, where she asked why the ISIL Takfiri terrorists, currently wreaking havoc in parts of Iraq and Syria, are not operating in Israel.
“Anyone thought of asking them [the ISIL] why they’re not attacking the real oppressors #Israel?,” She is reported to have posted.
Kirby is a supporter of Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel. This is while Labour leader Ed Miliband has always been a staunch supporter of Israel despite Tel Aviv's onslaught on the besieged Gaza enclave.
“The threat of boycotts of Israel is the wrong response. We do and we will resolutely oppose the isolation of Israel," Miliband said earlier in June.
Kirby’s suspension comes a month after a Muslim British Foreign Office minister, Syeeda Warsi, who was also the first Muslim to sit in the UK cabinet, resigned over the UK government’s policy on Gaza.
Israel started pounding the Gaza Strip in early July. Almost 2,140 Palestinians, mostly civilians, including women, children and elderly people, were killed in the Israeli onslaught. Around 11,000 others were injured.
The Israeli war ended on August 26 with an Egyptian-brokered truce, which took effect after negotiations in Cairo.
The deal stipulates the ease of Israel’s seven-year-old blockade as well as the provision of a guarantee that Palestinian demands will be met.
